Media Ignoring IRS Scandal Creates Dangerous Precedent

Former IRS hack Lois Lerner targeted a Republican Senator, threatening an “examination.” The GOP Senator happens to be Chuck Grassley who sits on the Senate Finance Committee. In other words, Lerner wanted to target a Republican Senator who sits on a committee that oversees issues of taxation. No sir, there isn’t any political targeting of conservatives at the IRS! One can only wonder how many other examples of Lerner targeting conservative individuals or groups could be discovered in the emails allegedly lost forever by the IRS. Even 63% of rank and file Democrats think the IRS deliberately destroyed Lerner’s emails.

They’re not ignoring the story, per se, just covering for Obama, and that’s nothing new.

As FReeper Fair Paul insightfully posted: How would Lerner receive an invitation that was meant to go to Senator Grassley? Is she intercepting his mail/email?

================================================

Lerner "accidentally" receiving....and opening ....US mail addressed to Sen Grassley is a federal offense----in legal terms: tampering with US mail. Mail tampering refers to the willful theft, destruction or opening of the mail of another person without their consent.

The moral equivalent of the Watergate break-in.

===============================================================

REFERENCE----mail tampering is a crime punishable by incarceration, fines, or a term of probation. Within these individual United States, tampering with the mail may be a crime under state laws; however, mail fraud is a federal crime. The exact definition will vary by jurisdiction, but "tampering" generally includes opening, destroying, damaging, or interfering with mail intended for another person.

Under most states laws within the United States, mail is considered private property. As such, an individual has an expectation of privacy attached to his or her mail. When another person breaches that expectation of privacy, he or she may be guilty of mail tampering.

State laws differ, but in most cases, no one is allowed to open mail intended for another person. In many cases, even members of the same household cannot open mail addressed to another person in the same house. State statutes do frequently make an exception for United States Postal workers or other carriers if they are acting in good faith when opening the mail as part of their job.

Destroying, damaging, or interfering with the mail are also often considered mail tampering. For instance, removing mail from someone's mailbox or throwing mail away that is intended for another person may amount to a crime. Under most state statutes, tampering with the mail is a misdemeanor and is punishable by a term of imprisonment of up to a year or two.

The overriding question is---why would a federal agency w/ massive L/E powers----target Sen Grassley at all?

Consider that the vindictive lawless WH occupier went on jihad against Grassley for one reason. Sen Grassley was interfering w/ vote-crazed Oabma's plans to inundate America w/ illegal Democrat voters.

===============================================

American Patriot Grassley tried to protect Americans w/ his amendment to the Senate amnesty bill: "Congress should not thumb its nose at the millions of Americans who are victims of identity theft, often perpetrated by an undocumented person who steals Social Security numbers to get jobs, govt benefits, driver's licenses and more.

"This amendment would simply require the person applying for RPI status to disclose any previously used Social Security numbers," said Grassley. "It's the first step to helping clean up the mess that's been created for the victim of identity theft. The amendment also authorizes certain federal agencies, upon receipt of this information, to notify individuals who were the victims."

IS SEN SCHUMER COMPLICIT IN THE IRS/OBAMA CONSPIRACY AGAINST SEN GRASSLEY?: Dismissing Sen Grassley's proposal to protect Americans, Sen Schumer (Dem-NY) said: "When people are living in undocumented status, there are times, I suppose, when they've made up identities, made up Social Security numbers. How are they going to remember all that? (The) purpose of this bill is to bring people out of the shadows. We all know when they lived in the shadows, they had to forge documents, forge Social Security numbers, et cetera. I just don't see how, when you've lived here 10 years, and you've had many different identities, many different numbers, you're going to remember them all," said Schumer.

I absolutely agree with what you wrote, but you need to post the FULL article you wrote here on Free Republic, otherwise you are blog pimping.

Blog pimping means you’re trying to get hits on your blog by using Free Republic as a pointer.

The ONLY reason to excerpt a post is because the source (the media whom we both oppose) demanded it.

Many scholars point out that Shakespeare’s “Henry VI” famous quote of “First thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers....” has been co-opted by haters of the legal profession because, they say, William was pointing out the lawyers were the frontline spear protecting freedom and to overthrow a country means you take them out. Regardless of that distinction, that phrase is more appropriately co-opted when it is modified to “first thing we do, let’s kill all the journalists....”

Journalists think themselves the frontline spear of freedom and preciously and often, irrationally, cling to the 1st amendment as if it were solely written for them. In fact, it wasn’t. They are in that subset, buy by no means the sole occupant.

Media - journalists have forgotten truth comes from all walks of life and they have over the last half century sought to pervert that truth and bend it to their own selfish wills. To me, they are the equal partners of evil politicians like Obama - any Democrat, really.

Yes, indeed...as Shakespeare wrote.....”Let’s.......” just change it to journalists.

How can it be a scandal when they are only targeting political enemies of the lightworker Obama? The media loves this. They love seeing an all powerful tyrant punish enemies. They don’t care what damage happens as long as they still get to sniff the royal throne.

If repubs knew how to play the game they would start saying when repubs get the presidency they are going to have the IRS targeting the left wing news media including individual reporters, liberal groups, and dem members of congress.

Sit back and watch the outrage.

That’s what the dems refer to as “heightening public awareness”.

Yep, it is interesting that the IRS intercepted a sitting Senator’s email and who knows how many others they have intercepted. Bet they have plenty of copies of those emails as well.

Grassley ought to announce that he has Lerner’s emails but won’t allow the press to see them. Would be fun to watch Lerner’s reaction to that.

Seeing she's got his snail mail.....Grassley ought to announce that he has Lerner’s emails but won’t allow the press to see them. Would be fun to watch Lerner’s reaction to that.

ROTFLOL----I love it (cue applause meter).

Besides, Grassley didn't get to be powerful for nothing---I'm sure he's examining all his options.

There are no “precedents” when the left advances it’s agenda.

If the sky is blue to advance their agenda today, the sky will be proclaimed blue.

If tomorrow, a green sky will advance their agenda, the sky will be green by assertion and media proclamation.

So, they can allow the IRS to target conservatives today, destroy evidence, and run roughshod over people while ‘rats have control of the agency,

and then if the right ever gets a handle on things and there’s even 50.1% of audits being toward left leaning orgs, they can cry abuse and criminalize and punish those involved.

Grassley was after them about the IG Walpin firing who was digging into one of the first Odomhole scandals. After that it was the investigation of Fast and Furious. He has been a thorn in the side of the rogue administration. Lerner was just doing a bit of pay back, you see, you don’t scratch our back we stick the back scratcher up your backside.
