President Denounces Boehner Lawsuit as “Stunt”
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 28 June 2014 | John Semmens

Posted on 06/28/2014 10:38:53 AM PDT by John Semmens

This week House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced he was going to sue President Obama for abuse of executive authority. “Time-after-time the President has acted without proper authority,” Boehner charged. “He has refused to faithfully execute laws that require his action. Worse, he has endeavored to exercise legislative authority that the Constitution relegates to Congress. We are going to ask the Court to put a stop to this.”

President Obama laughed off the lawsuit calling it “a stunt designed to cover for Congress’ failure to govern. If Congress were to do its job and pass the legislation I’ve directed them to pass I wouldn’t be forced to take matters into my own hands.”

“Aside from the substantive issues there is also the question of the appropriate procedural remedy,” the President added. “Under our Constitution it is not the Court’s job to take sides with one branch of government over another. If Congress believes that I am stepping on its prerogatives the prescribed course is for them to impeach me.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) concurred in the President’s analysis. “Clearly, Congress must be the guardian of its own powers,” Reid asserted. “It cannot punt the ball to the Court.” As for impeachment, Reid vowed that “the Republicans will get no cooperation from me in any effort to impede President Obama’s efforts to do what he deems necessary for the good of the country. As long as I’m running the Senate there will be no impeachment.”

Doesn’t sound much like satire to me. I guess it’s getting harder and harder to do satire and parody about this administration.

Impeach Obama.

Obama's best defense is a good offense. Notice how "No Drama Obama" never really defends himself. Instead he looks for ways to attack the opposition.

Obama is such a sitting duck. The opposition is stupid when it gets diverted from the major threats to our American way of life that Obama has posed.

The Right should launch such an unrelenting and withering attack on the Obamocrats that all they can do is hide in their symbolic caves, not unlike Reagan did to the shaking, scared liberals of his era.

Unfortunately, it is a stunt.

Next thing you know, Boner will be doing cartwheels in the White House garden to entertain Obama and his guests.

I'm no big fan of Boehner, but something has to be tried. Obama (or any President's) job is to work with Congress to usher laws through. This involves building relationships, horse trading, threatening, leveraging, working with people you absolutely detest, and ass-kissing (stuff that normal people hate to do, but are the mothers-milk of politics). Obama is not very good at this and also hates doing it....which is very strange for a man who is President of the US. This is probably yet another reason he is not qualified to be President.

In any case, instead of doing the above, Obama gives stem-winder speeches, signs executive orders, and hits the golf course. His inability and incompetence as a CEO and political leader is no excuse for circumventing the constitution. It's not only illegal, it's a scary precedent to be setting for future presidents.

What if we had a GOP President who came along and said, “Congress won't act on lowering capital gains taxes, so I will.” Come on....!!! He can't do that anymore than Obama can delay or change parts of the ACA. All branches have to work together or nothing changes.....that's how our system works....thank god.

BTW, I have a theory that Obama is going to keep pushing the envelope on these matters until he finally gets impeached after doing something so egregious, even the limp-wristed GOP house won't be able to stomach the power grab. Then, he'll run to a microphone and spin all of his supporters up into a frenzy with the ‘whitey is coming to get me firebrand stuff.” Naturally, the protests will start, and then the civil rights gatherings, and more stem-winder speeches from so-called black leaders, etc etc and then game on.... I think it's what Obama really wants...it's what all community organizers want....which is to say, “Revolution!!”

It's just a theory, but it sure seems like Obama has us going down that track. I could be wrong, but the bottom line is I can't wait for President Obama’s term to end. He's awful!!!

It will never happen. We have the example from Clinton. The Democrats in the Senate will never convict.

President Obama laughed off the lawsuit calling it “a stunt designed to cover for Congress’ failure to govern. If Congress were to do its job and pass the legislation I’ve directed them to pass I wouldn’t be forced to take matters into my own hands.”

I know this is plainly posted as satire, but isn't this essentially what Barky has been whining about for some time now? That if Congress will not pass his diktats into law he has stated "I've got... a pen, and... I've got a phone!" and he will just issue another E.O. or several to do it himself?

Impeachment and Conviction are two different things.

If the Senate does not Convict make them wear that millstone.

Doing nothing is endorsement.

Every day, all around this country, prosecutors decide whether they are going to be able to get a jury to “convict” in a case. If the prosecutor realizes that there’s NO WAY a jury will ever convict on what he potentially can present to the jury, they will not waste the tax-payers money in a useless cause and throw their money down a rat-hole.

The US House of Representatives is just as smart as the many prosecutors around our country.

You don’t know that the Senate will not convict. You presume, but you don’t know. Making the case and failing is one thing, not even attempting to make the case is another.

Obama has committed treason, overtly and blatantly. He must be impeached.

I know Reid and I know Democrats, just like everyone else here knows the Democrats. They’ve got the numbers to defeat conviction.

Do you (not you personally, your position) lack confidence in your ability to make the case?

I have absolutely no confidence in Democrats, just like everyone else here has no confidence in them doing the right thing.

I do agree that Boehner’s lawsuit is a “stunt,” and I think it is a typically terrible idea from a RINO who clearly has no concept of our basic constitutional principles.

Allowing the president to commit treason without consequence is utterly unacceptable. It is death to the United States.

See tag line.

IOW do what I tell you to do or I'll do it myself. Sounds dictatorial to me and certainly UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
