Six Californias is a proposed initiative by venture capitalist Tim Draper to split California into six states: Jefferson, North California, Silicon Valley, Central California, West California, and South California.
The topic has been covered extensively at Free Republic. You can find the other threads here.
The purpose of this thread is to give some details of this proposed initiative.
The state of North California would be south of Jefferson spanning from the Pacific Ocean to Nevada. North California would consist of thirteen counties: Amador, El Dorado, Marin, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba. Silicon Valley
The state of Silicon Valley would span the coastline from San Francisco to Monterey. It would consist of eight counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Monterey.
The state of Central California would be between Silicon Valley and Nevada. It would consist of the fourteen counties north of Los Angeles and south of Sacramento: Alpine, Calaveras, Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare and Tuolumne.
The state of West California would be south of Silicon Valley and Central California, and west of San Bernardino County. It would consist of four counties: Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles and Ventura.
The state of South California would be made up of the southernmost part of the state. It would consist of five counties: Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego.
Anyone proposing statehood with a name like Silicon Valley is not serious.
So this is some kind of PR stunt.
The rest would be interesting, and maybe a great way to kill the outsize influence of liberals in LA and SF.

With the majority of the US States being red in color, there is no way CA would be allowed to split like that and ADD 10 more Senators.
True...I know the red areas of CA is the eastern, northern and Palm Springs area, so it should have some right of center elected. Where would the state Capitol for Jefferson be? Susanville? Or Yweka ( if I spelled it correctly).
I agree with this idea.
Unsure what the voters will say, but I’m 100% in favor of this.
California has far too big a population, for just one state.
No, way up top in Jefferson it would be bleeding heart Eco libs probably. Please correct me if I am wrong. The ones with right of center senators and possibly congresspeople would be central ca, southern ca, and northern ca. All the eastern most ones.
IMO there would be a lot of to the right Hispanic candidates, maybe some Vietnamese too. I think some of those new states would be the perfect places for a right of center ethnic candidate to get all kinds of crossover votes.
I wish it would happen.
I’d like to see it...
