Tsunami of Foreign Minors to Hit Public Schools, Texas Officials Silent
Breitbart's Texas ^ | June 28, 2014 | Merrill Hope

Posted on 06/28/2014 4:13:31 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

DALLAS, Texas--Nerves are starting to fray. Texans want answers about the tsunami of undocumented and unaccompanied minors that may well hit public school classrooms this Fall. Breitbart Texas reported that the Clear Lake Tea Party (CLTP) voiced strong concerns about how these minors will be absorbed into classrooms across the state. Locally, it stands to tax Texans in more ways than one and how schools prepare comes with a surprising answer.

Breitbart Texas asked Texas Education Agency (TEA) Director of Media Relations Debbie Ratcliffe who said, "We are monitoring the situation but, at this point, we have no districts report any issues to us."

Ratcliffe stated that this may be, in part, because districts haven't been impacted during the summer break months.

However, the actual impact may be very difficult to account for because "the courts have told us that we can't ask what their citizenship status is. If they are living in a Texas district, they can attend a Texas public schools," Ratcliffe added.

CLTP may want to know if a local ISD is adequately funded or has sufficient security or staff for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), counselors, mental health professionals, free lunches programs, or just plain available classroom space and teacher staffing, but those questions may go unanswered.....

Send them back to Mexico, it’s not their right to be housed and fed forever in Texas.

Why don’t LaRaza and other bleeding heart organizations pay for tutors for these kids.

They should put their money where their mouths are.

Back when everybody was scrambling for some stimulus money, districts in my county were asking for some $50 million for bi lingual teachers because the number of non English speaking students had risen by more than 50% in 10 years. My state has relatively few illegals.

It would've taken LESS effort to dump these illegals back into Mexico then to retain them in the U.S.

This is nothing but a Democrat voter registration drive once the parents of these children get here.. BEFORE NOVEMBER!

The Republicans want cheap labor every bit as much as the Democrats want voters. They are both complicit.

Republican people that get cheap labor and Democrats that get votes from illegals need to be heavily fined and/or jailed. We need to stem the tide.

There is one key, require shot records and transcripts from their previous schools including their English language tests. If not, then tell the Feds it is their problem to school them.

Tsunami of Foreign Minors to Hit Public Schools, Texas Officials Silent

This is probably done because it doesn't look so good for TX...Can't have that.

On the bright side, it's a shot in the arm for police funding, higher crime, social services and of course more taxes and bigger government.... more control...

That was 1954....Back then the dollar had value, most everyone spoke English.

We were not being invaded by tens of millions who disrespect and rules and laws while government aided and abetted them.

Homosexuality was considered sick and twisted and Americans had lots of freedom from govenrment tyranny and control.

People actually had respect for government back in 1954.

This isn’t our parents America.

It’s still hard to believe we went from what we were, to what we have now in just a few decades...

The schools have no choice when it comes to providing K-12 education. SCOTUS made that mandatory with Plyler vs Doe in 1982.

Here in Fairfax County, Virginia we pay $104 million a year for ESOL instruction for 31,000 students.

Was that sarcasm? ‘Cause Perry’s doing NOTHING.

Bottom line: Perry’s out of politics now...almost like he was ‘targeted’.

The article clearly demonstrates that DOJ is taking the offensive and outlining that ‘once they’re here, there’s nothing you can do’. They’re not overflowing the border in all border states, just Texas. That’s telling, as is the ‘non’-response on all party’s parts. IMHO.

To control our southern borders and stop the thousands of children from Latin America from sneaking into the United States, we need at least two new amendments to the Constitution, something like this:

1. "School attendance: Only citizens, legal residents, those with special student visas can attend elementary, high school, and colleges in the United States."

2. "One parent must be a citizen before a newborn child is given automatic citizenship."

3. Felony: We must finally declare that crossing the border illegally is a felony.

Illegal parents come to the United States for the wonderful benefits that their children can receive, like a quality education and great health care. Can you blame them for making the dangerous, long trip with their young children, or sending their children by themselves with the hope that the United States will automatically let them stay?

I don't understand how a child can illegally cross the southern border one day and automatically be eligible to enroll in public school the next day. That is wrong.

It is wrong, but it is the law. If you read the SCOTUS decision, the rationale was that the costs were not that great. Things have changed dramatically. Plyler vs Doe must be challenged again.
