More like a recognition of the differences in culture.

For instance; “The Chinese drive terrible”. Well, that’s true of Chinese immigrants but, not so of native born Americans of Chinese descent.

Arabs are aggressive and will drive anyone off the road. Not true of Americans of Arab descent.

generalizations of course but, we are culturally different.

Hondurans and Guatemalans are lazy and only come to America for our welfare system. Not true of Americans with their descent respectively.

Brazilians suck at soccer, Germans kill and excel in the sport. ..generally. ...

I didn't give a number - 90% or any other - because I haven't made a numerical study of my performance.

But what's "gross" about what I said? What aspect of what I said was "gross?"

I shouldn't have said "everyone." What I meant was that every culture in the world differentiates between its own characteristics, and those of outsiders. And, because of differences in understanding, those identified differences are often seen in a "normative" way, meaning people often think of the characteristics of their own culture as being superior to those of other cultures.

Also in every culture there are individuals who fight against the tendency to see the differences. There are also individuals who fight against the tendency to feel superior.

It seems to me that only in America (and to some extent in the UK and other northern European countries) do people push the idea that our culture is inferior to basically every other culture in the world.

To me, that seems like overcompensation for something.
