Lest we forget, it was 55 years ago ( July 18, 1969 ) that Ted Kennedy crawled and slimed his way to land and Armstrong landed on the moon ( July 20th). Progressives should not be allowed to forget the anniversary of the death of Mary Jo Kopechne and the real war on women.

A blogger named Brian Cates on Twitchy has given a riveting accounting of the hour by hour actions of the infamous and duplicitous Ted Kennedy. At the end of the blog a poster calling himself the DivingPetrel imagined how an Oliver Stone Hollywood would re-enact the Chappaquiddick saga.

"Yes I can see it now. The movie starts with Kopechne having just missed her ride and upset about it. Ted shows up (stone cold sober of course) and as a gracious gentleman offers to drive her home. Just as they get to the area of the cemetery they are forced off the road by mysterious men (who later in the movie are seen to be acting at the behest of the EVIL George W. Bush) who force them to drive to the bridge where they take Ted out of the car and shove it into the water with Kopechne still inside.

They then take Ted away for reprogramming while an imposter stands in to try to make him look callous solely to ruin the democrats chances in the next election. Ted is finally released from the clutches of the EVIL George W. Bush with no recollection of what actually happened and as soon as he hears about the accident he gallantly does the right thing and turns himself in to take the punishment for a crime which he somehow knows he is being framed for.

After serving a two-year prison term he returns to the Senate an older and wiser man, even more dedicated to defending the rights of women from the misogynistic Republicans. Ahhh... the wonders of Hollywood."

Thank you for the post. I was just over 20 when the incident
happened. Points 2, 4, and 10 were new to me until today.

Also, Mary Jo’s parents were paid an undisclosed sum from the Kennedy family I believe. And Mary Jo’s mother on at least one occasion mentioned that Mary Jo had a boy friend.
To the best of my knowledge no one in the press sought him out, which I have always found interesting.

Kennedy's clothes were dry? I always thought he drove into the water, saved himself, and let Mary Jo drown by (a) not rescuing her (which he may have been too drunk to attempt) or (b) promptly reporting the accident (because he wrongly presumed that she had drowned, so he was preoccupied with a coverup).

But if he drove the car into the water, he would have been wet.

That is what the witness who Kennedy spoke to at the hotel said. The car had gone in the water several hours before so he might have dried from the original incident.

The point was Kennedy did not swim back to the mainland in the middle of the night. No one saw him in wet clothes walking from the dock to the hotel. No one in the hotel saw him in wet clothes.

The theory by Leo Damore and others is that Kennedy, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and fleeing from the deputy sheriff crashed his car into a tree on the narrow, dirt road in the dark. Mary Jo, who was pregnant, was hurt and they panicked. To cover it up, they rigged the car with Mary Jo in it to go in the water. In the pitch dark they did not realize that the car would be visible when the tide went out next morning. That was one of Kennedy’s original stories, that Mary Jo was driving. But they were afraid of an autopsy on Mary Jo.

It is a theory. But the car was damaged much worse than it would have been from just going into the water.

I saw a movie about the Kennedys a while back. It made them appear to be slave drivers to their employees. And it appeared that the Kennedy men harassed female employees. One scene in the movie had old Joe Kennedy kissing one of the girl employees on the lips. One can only imagine what else was going on with Kennedy men and their servant employees.

She apparently spends considerable time on the Kennedy clan with particular emphasis on Teddy and the fact that liberals so insanely applauded the man that he was actually given awards for upholding women’s rights even after allowing Kopechne to die to try to save his career - it’s the likes of Teddy and diddling cigar Clinton who wage the real war on women, she shows......
