Artist sends the National Spy Agency a super-encrypted mixtape.
So why would Huerta create a mixtape no one else could open? Well for one, theres no worry that someday hell regret sending our nations protectors a whole bunch of mushy love songs that will sound really, really cheesy 10 years from now. Oh, and theres this, which he posted on his Medium blog: The NSA can read my stupid Facebook updates but without my consent it will never be able to listen to my kick-ass mix tape, even if its sitting right in front of them.

So what would be on your freedomista mixtape?

Hmm...if I was sending a mixtape to the NSA, I think this would be my short list:
Every Breath You Take (I’ll be watching you) - The Police
Peek-a-Boo - DEVO (”I can SEE you, and I KNOW what you do!”)
Somebody’s Watching Me - Rockwell
Fingerprint File - Rolling Stones (”Right now somebody is listening to you. Keeping their eyes peeled on you. Mmm, mmm, what a price, what a price to pay...”)
Voices Carry - Till Tuesday.
My list so far:
“Done” -The Band Perry:

Yeah, I know, most of those are breakup songs. But if the government is going to act like an abusive spouse, then they are going to get treated like one.
It would probably start with this one...

Electric Eye-Judas Priest
Eye in the Sky - Alan Parsons Project
Oops. Should read ‘Patti Smith’.
In the sidebar for that song was another one that might apply: “Don’t Tread on Me” by Metallica https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmvG2ZiPfoo
(Not my favorite sound, but somebody here might like it.)
They don’t need a copy of his mixtape. if he’s played it, they’ve heard it.
Merle Haggard "Cocaine Blues"
Jimmie Rodgers "Miss the Mississipi"
“Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights)” - Pat Travers”
LOL! Hubby sang that to our grandbaby, nobody had ever heard it before and even hubby said he didn’t know where it came from.
We thought he just made it up.
Months later it finally came up on the shuffle of songs he’s got.
He was as shocked as anyone. I said: that’s nice dear, the first song you sing to the baby is about domestic violence.
Love your Patti Smith choice too. She rocks, big time.
I think I’d go Reggae.
The Harder They Come
Redemption Songs
What nthe hell is a mixtape?
“What nthe hell is a mixtape?”
It’s a compilation of songs that you put together yourself.
It used to be on tape, but I guess they’re doing it differently today.
We had a great one “Drinking and Cheating” that a friend of ours made. Great country tunes, everyone of which pertained to either drinking, or cheating, or both. With the one strange exception of “Great Balls of Fire”.
Ladytron’s “Destroy Everything You Touch” (ode to Obama) and their “I’m Not Scared”
I shitcaned music 69 years ago is probably I don’t know anything about what you are talking about.
Don't sweat it. I sang "Rocky Raccoon" to my kids which is all about gun violence.
Speaking of, I should have included "Come as You Are" by Nirvana in my list.
. . . and I swear that I don't have a gun. No, I don't have a gun . . .
