A House Democrat is calling on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban e-cigarette flavors and celebrity marketing practices that she says target children.
Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) wrote to the FDA Monday warning e-cigarette makers are trying to entice children with flavors such as “chocolate, gummy bear, bubble gum and strawberry.” She also warned the industry is using “celebrity endorsements” to encourage young people to take up smoking the nicotine vaporizers.
“Due to the growth in child and adolescent experimentation with these alternative delivery systems, I urge the FDA to move quickly to ban child-friendly flavorings and youth-oriented marketing practices,” DeLauro said. The Connecticut lawmaker also said nicotine poisoning in children is on the rise because nicotine cartridges used in e-cgarettes are not childproof. She adds the FDA should act immediately to allow only childproof cartridges on the market.
Senate Democrats are already pushing legislation to demand nicotine cartridges are childproof, a measure which has been supported by the e-cigarette industry.
Earlier this year the FDA proposed rules to regulate the e-cigarette industry by requiring health warnings on their packaging and banning their sales to minors.
DeLauro says the FDA should update the rules and issue a final regulation not later than April of next year.

I remember buying Chocolate Cigarettes when I was a kid. They were absolutely yummy. I also rode my Bike without wearing a Helmet and if I recall, most of the Cars I rode in as a Child didn’t have Seat Belts.
Just what we need, ugly inside and out Liberal Women running our lives and telling us how to raise our Children.
What the hell happened to the America I grew up in anyway?
If I’d have worn a helmet every other boy in the neighborhood would’ve called me a homo or worse. I’ll bet you rode in the back of a pick-up truck, too and climbed trees, had dirt-clod wars, and did trick on bikes and jumped over ramps and hills.
Why not just ban chocolate, gummy bears, bubble gum and strawberries?
And remember, to a Democrat, you’re a child until you turn 27 except when it comes to getting an abortion.

Had a great Tree Fort too. Three stories with the lowest part fifteen feet off the ground. We built it out of whatever we could find. I can’t believe my Parents didn’t freak out when we got it done.
During the Summer, we had to be home by Dinner time. Up to that point my Parent’s had no idea where we were or what we were doing. It was the age of innocence, and it’s gone forever.

These idiots can say whatever they want about e-cigs. Their ONLY concern is lost revenue, not our health.
I’m proud to say that I’ve gone 121 days without a cigarette thanks to the E-cig and have no desire to go back to smoking ‘regular’ cigs.

Why can’t they just leave us the hell alone damn it. I too love the different flavors. Gummy bear I dont care for though. Of course it does not occur to these bastards that we love the different flavors too. Ugh this makes me mad. They are not marketed to kids. Jerks.
Since I started vaping had not smoked since October 2013. These are the only things that have worked for me.
