Rick Perry explained why Texas had to act

Obama calls these criminals “opportunists”
Hes just being heartless.
It is estimated that approximately 7% of the people living in Texas are illegal aliens. About 8% of the prison population is. I wouldn’t call that “disproportionate”.
Nationwide I think 1/7th of prisoners are illegal aliens
(that was before Obama freed 60,000+ illegal theives, fraudsters, assault, robbers, rapists and killers)
Only Rick Scott, Thom Tillis and Chris Christie in this decade, as Republicans, seem to want to entice illegals into their state.
I don’t like Rick Perry at all but the fact that there are others who did it after the immigration battles of 2007, 2010 and 2013 is even worse.
Every other GOP controlled legislature or Governor has increasingly enforced the law (Christie went out of his way to help the Dem legislature give him tuition).
And the sad fact is I bet a majority of those crimes were committed against Latinos.
I agree. I don’t like Perry.
I was saying it was worse that the others did in 2013 than when Perry did it in 2001. They had more information and pushback.
So at your second link it appears that in Texas the percentage of illegals in prison is lower than the percentage statewide.
But didn’t Rick Perry make his “heartless” pronouncement during the last Republican primaries?
He did. I was talking about the actual process of passing the tuition freebies.
I dont think Perry is a serious candidate. He takes credit for the jobs that would be in Texas with any generic Republican Governor.
Couldn’t agree more.
the point is, when someone changes their mind and take your side eventually stop throwing stones at them and welcome them to our side!
It would appear so, but what I have seen doesn’t marry up to that.
You don’t say?! Well, I’m sure Perry’s unarmed observers will bring that stuff to a screeching halt....right?/Sarc.

Since 2008, more than 203,000 criminal aliens have been booked into Texas
county jails. Over the course of their criminal careers, these individuals
have committed more than 640,000 crimes in the state of Texas alone,
including more than 3,000 homicides and nearly 8,000 sexual assaults.

Yesterday, I received a letter from my Congressman Steve Stivers, Ohio. It was in response to the the border situation. In his response, he cited two amendments to HR 4660. One is funding to investigate discretionary enforcement decisions releasing 36,000 illegals in 2013. The second calls for the DOJ to prohibit funds from going to cities that have passed and enacted sanctuary cities or political subdivisions which is in violation of not enforcing current law. He further states: I am proud to have supported Rep. King’s amendments, pending in the Senate. “IT IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING THAT THE RELEASED IMMIGRANTS COMMITTED OVER 88,000 CRIMES.
His position is clear in another statement: “WE MUST BE ABLE TO ENFORCE OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM IN A LEGAL AND ORDERLY WAY WHICH SHOULD NOT INCLUDE GRANTING AMNESTY TO THOSE HERE ILLEGALLY.”
Been in the joint?
Thanks for the ping.
