Skip to comments.Trayvon Martin Riots? One Year Anniversary Of George Zimmerman Trial Stokes Fears
Posted on 07/26/2014 10:01:29 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet
The controversial figure of Trayvon Martin is either a civil rights icon or a thug depending on who you talk to about the issue. With the one year anniversary of the George Zimmerman trial having just passed recently, some people fear these tensions could erupt into riots in major cities.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, the name of Trayvon Martin was used as a slur by one woman, and she was arrested as a result. President Obama made a controversial remark recently when he talked about black people acting white.
Last week, some people contended that the George Zimmerman trial betrayed African American men in general and claimed there needed to be a renewed push in the civil rights movement on issues like gun control, especially in regards to the Stand Your Ground law. For some, this brought back to mind the so-called Trayvon Martin riots that were feared shortly after Zimmermans verdict was announced. Reporting on the issue seemed to vary on political affiliation, with the Drudge Report highlighting instances of violence while Time ran a story talking about peaceful Trayvon protests that proved fears over race riots to be wrong.
Still, not all of the protests ended peacefully as evidenced by this video showing a Trayvon Martin riot:
Now these same ugly fears are rearing their heads again. For example, Mr. Conservative writes:
Just a year ago, certain members of the black community condemned news agencies and police departments for warning of riots during the time of Zimmermans verdict as being racist yet they came about to be true. Now, as the year anniversary is rolling around, the same fears are re-surfacing and are expected to swing around full circle . Tensions around the world are currently running at max capacity and it would simply take a hot button issue like the Trayvon Martin case to set it all off, and thats exactly what police have expressed concern about.
Fortunately, these predictions have yet to come to pass. In fact, recent protests attended by Kobe Bryant and Trayvon Martins parents were called a Peace Walk and Peace Talk, although critics noted they walked around the neighborhood screaming, What do we want? Justice! According to the parents, the Trayvon Foundations purpose is to raise attention to gun violence, create awareness of how violent crime impacts the families of the victims and to help provide support and resources to such families. They also desire to to increase public awareness of stand-your-ground laws and all forms of racial, ethnic and gender profiling and educate youth on conflict resolution techniques.
Do you think the anniversary of the George Zimmerman trial will inspire Trayvon Martin riots? Do you think gun control and gun rights laws should even be considered a civil rights issue?
There ain’t nore mileage in this thug.
If the MSM didn’t tell them it was the anniversary they would never know.

Its over. I wish people would drop this now. The trial happened, Zimmerman was found not guilty. Time to stop the race hustling
Houses will be cased to commemorate this event.
A Drank libation, cop a ‘tude, diamond in the back, sunroof top, diggin’ the scene with a gangsta lean ... What you say Willis, Traywho?

Sounds like the media is trying to instigate a riot.
They would love to see it.
“Sounds like the media is trying to instigate a riot.”
You just know they are dying for one to start.
maybe we should have a Michael Daniels day.
or a Ralph Eric Santiago day instead
What does it matter that he is a Freemason? I’m not being sarcastic or criticizing. I’m just curious what significance this implies to you.
Not a “real” Freemason. Prince Hall lodges tend to meet in bars and consort with exotic dancers.
Not many people fear that. Very, very few indeed. It would be much more likely if Trayvon Martin had actually had his civil rights violated in any way. They were not.
The court system, and the vast majority of the nation as a whole, now know that Trayvon Martin was, unfortunately for himself and Al Sharpton, an aspiring thug, as opposed to a victim of racism.
Even the black civil rights community knows this in their heart of hearts, which is exactly why there won't ever be any riots about this verdict.
The backlash which would result from such ill-advised foolishness would set the black civil rights movement back another 10 or 20 years.
The race-baiters, such as Sharpton and his ilk, severely overplayed their hand in this instance, and they were exposed as disingenuous charlatans to anyone with even a shred of objectivity or common sense.
“claimed there needed to be a renewed push in the civil rights movement on issues like gun control, especially in regards to the Stand Your Ground law”
SYG? Seriously? Did these folks even follow the trial? SYG was never invoked as a defense.
The trial is over, and the system has spoken. Zimmerman was found not guilty under Florida law. It’s time for everyone to move on
what with black yut unemployment what it is,
I’m surprised riots haven’t occurred YET in Americas inner cities.
If not for SNAP (”food stamps”), EBT, Section 8, WIC, UI, SSDI, Worker’s Compensation, LIHEAP, TANF, Medicaid, Legal Aid, food banks, congregate meals, EITC, School Lunch, CSFP, Meals On Wheels, TEFAP, Obamaphones, Job Corps, VISTA, Head Start and dozens more programs on which we spend over $1.3 TRILLION dollars a year, there might’ve been.
Don’t have to worry about “Trayvon Riots” on the Gulf Coast of MS - not because the Blacks are so scairt of the evil Whites, but because they are more in tune with working and real life issues than those in many other areas. Saw many carrying Romney/Ryan yard signs at a fair before the last election. I know some on FR think that’s a bad thing, but you get what you ask for...
Fist anniversary for looting new TV and shoes needed.
Because MSM portrayed Tray one’s father as a ‘former gang member.’
They totally omitted mention he’s a leader in the Freemason cult.
