A head of Yeshiva in Jaffa posted this message (and I am ROUGHLY paraphrasing into English from my husband ):
The Rosh Yeshiva says, "One of my students who I haven't heard from in many years contacted me today to ask where I study Torah. I was surprised by his question, since I know for sure that he is not observing Torah and mitzvot. So, I asked him why he wanted to know, and this was his response received back (I am not allowed to give his name):
"I observed the hand of Gd today with my own eyes. Now I know FOR SURE that there is a Gd!! No one told it to me...I didn't hear it from someone else...I saw this happen with my own eyes. I am an integral part of the iron dome operation. What we do here is an exact science and I cannot give many details of what we do. The other day we knew that a missile was headed directly for Tel Aviv...aimed at one of the 3 big towers, a shopping center in the middle of the city. We sent up one missile to intercept it, and we missed. We sent a second one, and we missed. We sent a third one to intercept...and we missed. Something even remotely like this has only happened other other time ever that I am aware of. We are very exact and very good at what we do. We do not miss. So to miss 3 times is not possible. By this time, disaster was eminent. We alerted all of the emergency crews within and around Tel Aviv to evacuate, but by this time there was little that could be done. Their missile was only minutes from detonation. We began the procedure of sending off one final missile to try and intercept it just before it came down, but we knew that casualties would still be imminent. Now, you must understand, our calculations based on physics and aerodynamics and weather (wind, atmosphere, humidity) are complete...there is NOTHING we don't take into account. This is how it is able to work so precisely. But all of a sudden, as we were scrambling to do anything and everything we could to save Tel Aviv, all of a sudden OUT OF NOWHERE came up a huge wind...one that was not on the radar...one that DID NOT EXIST before...and blew the missile from over Tel Aviv all the way into the Sea and dropped it off exactly safely into the water where no one was injured!!! You must understand...there was NO WIND...and then there was A HUGE WIND. This is not a couple of inches of a "move" that any gentle breeze could influence...this is MILES. It was nothing other than the hand of Gd!! I saw it with my very own eyes!!! The wind was not there before and it was not there after. It didn't come from somewhere, it came from NOWHERE. And after it moved the missile to the sea, it disappeared! So, after seeing this, I can no longer deny the existence of Gd. I put tfellin on right after this, and I took upon myself to keep Shabbat. Yesterday was my first Shabbat to keep and it was the best Shabbat of my life." this is from a friend's friend who lives in israel. wow!
Even though there is much suffering, there are miracles too.
Wouldn't it be only seconds from detonation, especially if Iron Dome defenses had already missed? Makes me doubt the whole story. Some day a similar story will be true, though.
Why would G-d need a laser?
There are some details that make the story sound incorrect - minutes would give time for more attempts, for example. However, I do not discount the Hand of G-d.

Very cool story if true. I certainly believe this could be the hand of God, and it certainly falls into line with how God seems to move. However, is there a link, or is this an Internet tale?

This was passed along to me by my wife who knows the lady who translated it from the Yeshiva's website which is Hebrew. I do not know anymore than that.
There are other miracles going on.
Think of this- If it had not been for the three murdered Yeshiva students who prompted the Israeli search, and recapture of many of the animals they were forced to let go in the last 'barter' deal, the Gazan mobsters would not have fired all the rockets that forced the Israel's to respond and eventually escalated this current situation to what is going on now.
AND: because of the escalation, the IDF discovered the many fortified tunnels.
AND: That forced the hand of Hamas to send their murderous suicide killers through them right now.
AND: Through interrogation, the "IDF discovered that ALL the tunnels were to be used to launch an invasion of hundreds of killers (or thousands) all at the same time on Rosh Hashana to climb from the tunnels and kill as many as they could from the farms and civilian communities along their path.
AND: The Egyptians also found the tunnels that were being used to attach them at their border.
This entire war is a miracle. All of the events that lead to it were miraculous. While many are suffering, it is also catching Hamas off guard. The world sees what the cement was used for. Many of the enemy were destroyed. Much of their weaponry was destroyed.
Also, the American public is getting a good look at exactly how the administration views Israel and Hamas.

I saw a blog post earlier today which discussed all of that and said if Hamas had just gone about their business quietly they would have gotten very close to Israel and may have killed many, many Jews.
But, oh no, they just couldn’t resist the chance to grab a few Jewish boys to kill for fun.
And now the jig is up and their plans have been laid bare.
They are paying dearly for their ‘fun.’

I completely agree with your assessment of the timing and destruction of the tunnels. I had previously contemplated the same circumstances as miraculous from the hand of God.
Really cool, but what is disappointing is that it seems to catch us off guard, as if we're surprised that God still moves and is still completely in control of all things.

That’s several minutes before launch. These missiles travel a good distance, but they are not V2’s, let alone ICBMs.
