Ed Schultz isnt exactly known for being an independent thinker. But the MSNBC host bucked all other voices on his ultra-liberal cable network this week by opposing President Obamas planned amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, declaring on Tuesday that I dont think any country just hands out work permits to solve an immigration problem and calling it a real tough sell.
The union-friendly cable host already declared his opposition to the impending move on Monday. And during a debate with progressive radio host Mike Papantonio, Schultz doubled down.
I get a little bit nervous when I even hear the thought, the possibility that undocumented workers immigrants would be granted work permits in the numbers of millions, he said. Wouldnt this create more problems that it solves? And legally what does it mean for the president? Can we just pass out work permits to anybody who crosses our border?
Papantonio sidestepped the question, blaming Republicans for failing to agree to the White Houses demand for comprehensive immigration reform.
Its uncomfortable, obviously, for him to make a decision on immigration by himself, the radio host said. But thats the position that Republicans have put him in.
I dont think any country just hands out work permits to solve an immigration problem, Schultz shot back. I think this would be a ground-sweeping move by the president to do that, and I think a lot of Democrats would have a hard time with it.
It would be a real tough sell to independents, he continued, and it would also all of a sudden start competing with American workers who are abiding by the laws.
Schultz also broke with the Obama administration earlier this year over their obstruction of the Keystone Pipeline. But pressure from his liberal audience (and maybe elsewhere?) eventually pushed him to reverse that opinion.
I had heard that he was once a Conservative..tell me, how does someone go from being a Conservative to a Communist loving douche bag?
Come on in, Ed, the Conservative Water is FINE!
After losing his radio audience and becoming the low man on the lowest watched TV news (sic) station and with the prospects of being canned...........perhaps it’s time to show a smidgen of intellect.
Maybe he can get a gig on Fox.
LOL...every network needs their “Special Ed”
Nope. On second thought, while there is no room in the conservative pond for another blow(hard)fish, there may well be room for him in the GOP. He would fit in pretty damn well
Setting the stage for Hillary
You are probably RIGHT - - - .
(Sigh - - ). So much for trying to be a Compassionate Conservative.

The same way any actor does. Many of these ‘announcers’ are filling positions in a open script.
Yeah, and if it’s one thing we need, it’s more loudmouths! (just kidding, just making a joke, please nobody freak out!)
The unions that own him must still be against amnesty.
I notice that for Democrats any opposition to the president is called “obstruction.” Of course, we also know that in their minds no one opposes Obama unless he is a racist, misogynists, misanthropic white man. That’s their red herring. What I think should be pointed out again and again is that America has plenty of poor people already; we have plenty of illegal immigrants already. The sole goal and purpose of this Obama policy is to create an insurmountably large permanent underclass that will assure Democrats political dominance in the USA. This isn’t about altruism; it’s about power. It is about making sure there are plenty of desperately poor Americans who cannot get by without the help of the Democrats.
Ed’s paid by the unions (no joke, it’s been documented) and this probably isn’t “independent thought” at all.
More likely unions are privately worried about the deluge and what it will mean for them. They use Ed as their public mouthpiece.
