Liberals at National Journal whine because 2002 Voting bill comes back to bite them

Kansas Democrats may live to regret their party’s support of the Help America Vote Act of 2002.

Though Democrats have fought to preserve voter fraud as a weapon against honest elections, it is not going well for them. They have argued that requiring a Photo ID to cast a ballot is discriminatory, but that hasn’t worked. They have claimed that Voter ID with photos will keep people from the polls because—[please fill in your favorite reason here.] But that hasn’t worked because surveys have shown, with few exceptions, that minority voting increases when Voter ID is required. Now liberals are trying a new approach by saying, “It is too expensive for voters to purchase a driver’s license so Voter ID is a Civil Rights violation.”

The National Journal bleats that it can cost up to “$58.50 to vote” in some places: Oh the horror of it all!

The very good news in this story is that 33 states demand photo ID at polling stations. Can Democrats still find a way to cheat? Of course, but under these rules it takes more planning and smarter people to pull it off. Both of these commodities are in short supply for Democrats.

Another piece of good news is...

Sadly, we in Pennsylvania had a good Photo ID law passed and signed into law. We still can’t use it because one black robed tyrant is holding it up.

In Puerto Rico, we’ve had voter ID since the 1980s. It’s given FOR FREE to anyone over 18 who can produce a birth certificate and a utility bill, or a school registration document. ISSUED AT NO COST TO THE APPLICANT. Argument ended from inception.

There’s a separate voter ID in PR?

Most states offer a free ID card. Arguments to counter that in the past include that it’s to much of a hardship to go get the ID.

Well, just pick it up on your way to collect your welfare benefits.

Ours isn’t perfect in Michigan but it does help.

We have a “Must ask” law. When you vote they must ask for ID but you don’t have to show it. However, if you don’t show ID you have to sign an affidavit stating that you know the law and are a legally registered voter. Basically it amounts to a signed confession if you’re caught. Now that we have a new law requiring poll oversight of traditionally problem precincts (Detroit, Flint, etc) there’s a good chance you will be caught.

Further back up is provided by an Attorney general who has aggressively prosecuted dozens of fraud cases many of which involve democrat party officials. There were 4 more convictions of county level democrats just last week. Its been effective enough to the point where democrats are turning each other in for fraud.

Alaska also has a separate voter ID card. It has no photo and is issued at no cost. Qualified voters can get one along with their driver's license or state ID. State ID cards with photo are available to seniors free of charge.

when I recently voted for the first time in a local election, I was pleasantly surprised to be asked for both my voter registration card and a photo ID at the polling place.

Racism of lowered expectations. Liberals argue that blacks and other minorities are too intellectually inferior to be expected to be able to obtain a free government ID.

Put pictures on EBT cards, problem solved.

Voter fraud is not rare. I have served as an election judge and I can tell you that voter fraud is easy. Way easy.

Obama had at his finger tips many community organizers working the polls, especially in the last presidential election.

There is a lot that can be done when no one is looking.

Mail-in ballots can be filled in by someone other than the person the ballot was intended for.

The election judge can hire only democrats to work the polls, even though they are supposed to hire a mix of both parties.

The election judge has access to all the information he needs to work with for at least a couple of days before the election.

All he needs to do is get just enough votes to swing it in his direction.

The most emboldened judges can go hog wild and make sure that 100% of their precinct turned the vote the way they wanted.

(100% is a statistical impossibility, by the way.)

All this makes a complete mockery of the oath we take as election workers.

What photo IDs and poll watchers do is slow them down, sometimes to where the election is actually a fair election.

And PA isn’t alone in that.

Meanwhile, early voting and absentee voting have become new favorite sources of Democrat fraud.

It is so obvious, from examining the group that is protesting voter ID to their shifting reasons for doing so,

that the true reason for opposing it is that they want to use voter fraud.

In an inadvertent revelation, J Jackson admitted that voter fraud probably made up around 7% of the vote total.

The cheating is most prevalent in areas of urban blight, where the election officials encourage and abet the cheaters.

Only 7%? It was probably a lot more than that.

Well, I was trying to find the quote.
Something is tickling the back of my brain
that says he said 15%...

But I wanted to err on the conservative side.

7% is enough to swing MOST elections, 15% much more so.

Yes, issued by the State Elections Commission exclusively for electoral purposes, although it is accepted as a form of ID for other business.

That’s probably as it should be, though of course Dem operatives claim that it’s too burdensome for those without birth certificates to retrieve them from their place of birth.

You need a government issued photo ID to vote in CT. I always have. I can’t buy beer at the grocery store without a photo ID and I’m 64 years old.

In TN we gave those who could not afford an ID a free one so they could vote..

though few people would not have one...
