December 12, 2014 It Sure Looks Like Jeb Bush Isn't Running For President By Thomas Lifson Forget about all those speeches, meetings with donors, and campaign appearances for others before the election. Money talks. Bloomberg reports (via The Weekly Standard):
"Documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Nov list Bush as chairman and manager of a new offshore private equity fund, Global Aviation, which raised $61million in September, largely from foreign investors. In November the fund incorporated in the United Kingdom and Walesa structure, several independent finance lawyers say, that operates like a tax haven by allowing overseas investors to avoid U.S. taxes and regulations.
"Global Aviation is one of at least three such funds Bush has launched in less than two years through his Coral Gables (Fla.) company, Britton Hill Holdings. Hes also chairman of a $26million fund, Logistics, established in April with backing from a Chinese conglomerate, and a $40million fund involved in shale oil exploration, according to documents filed in June and first reported on by Bloomberg News. Waste of time, waste of donor money.
Maybe Little Jebbie has been reading FR?
OK Jesse, I'm with you this time...
It’s beginning to look like Jeb’s not running, everywhere I go.
At first I thought that was the stock Frank Burns was fooled into purchasing in a MASH epesode. (actually Pioneer Aviation)
I don't know the particulars but maybe some enterprising Freeper can fill in the details.
Sure has a lot of money from foreigners in shady offshore accounts. Just what does he produce to warrant all that money?
It doesn’t matter who is running for the Republicans, there are just enough purists on the conservative side who won’t vote at all because no one is conservative enough, and refuse to choose the lesser of two evils. So they’re willing to let a flaming liberal win the election instead.
Yep. I am. I say push it all over the cliff now while we can still count on a majority in the Army and Marines.
Flaming liberals include Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney and Chris Christie.
The Marxist we put in charge due to negligence is quickly doing away with our Army and Marines, and transforming the rest. He’s starting at the top and working his way down from there.
Grease for palms.
None for elbows.
An overabundance of purity is hardly the country's problem.
Any more than an overabundance of purity is a problem in a barnyard full of pigs after six inches of rain.
It’s not really the “purity” that’s the problem. It’s what you do faced with the lack of it. If you go to battle, do you choose to go weaponless because the purity of a steel sword is less than what you hoped? You make do with the best you can get in the real world. Although a liberal Republican will be difficult to control, a Marxist Democrat will be impossible, especially since their voter base is not you.
It isn’t the quality of the weapons that is the problem. It’s the intent of the ones wielding them.
Reagan won in two landslide elections. Republicans haven't run a conservative since, and haven't had a landslide win since. GHWB squeaked through once (on Reagan's coattails), and lost the second time. Dole lost against what was, at the time, the most corrupt regime in US history. GWB squeaked through twice. McCain lost in a landslide by allowing his staff (borrowed from Romney) attack his conservative running mate. Romney lost in a landslide against what was already proven to be the absolutely most corrupt, anti-American, pro-muslim, evil administration in US history.
More people voted for Romney in 2012 than had voted for McCain in 2008, and he still lost. You cannot blame that on conservatives sitting out the election. You can blame it on many swing voters seeing Romney as Obama-Lite, and sticking with the correctly-labeled liberal.
When Republicans run a conservative, Republicans win.
Jeb Bush is not a conservative. Romney is not a conservative. Christie is not a conservative.
Republicans did the exact same thing against FDR, and lost four times. This recent Cromnibus Bill demonstrates that the GOP-e has learned nothing.
The ideal situation is of course for the GOP to realize that its voter base is conservative. Instead they try to appeal to liberals, as if a liberal will ever vote for a Republican. They keep thinking they have to “reach out” and “compromise”, when experience should tell them it’s principles, not compromise that wins votes. The problem, though, is not just the liberal Republicans, but that often there is no choice in who is nominated for election.
