Started the Process of Nursing Home Placement for my mother

Thoughts and prayers are extended to you at this difficult (but necessary) time in both of your lives. I went through the same in 2011-2013 with my dad and progressing dementia—there isn’t a checklist or ready reference that you can look to for the answer that’s right or correct.

There will soon be a new primary caregiver—let them do their job and you can now focus on being your parent’s very best friend and advocate. Your mind and heart will be in conflict as to the decision but you have done your best and it’s time to ask for help. It’s also time to take care of YOU, too.

God Bless and prayers up that God give you strength and peace of mind. My brother was the only one left in the area when my Mom went into physical decline and he bore the load of taking care of her needs. I made trips to arrange the legal papers (powers of attorney/medical etc.) but figured he had earned what little estate there was left over because he was there year in and year out while I was across the country with my life intact.

God will bless you for your acts of love and the suffering you endure.

I am so sorry you both re going through this. I hope and pray for the both of you, and the rest of your family & friends. Also hope that your siblings are as understanding as they can be. I guess you could be me & my mom in a few years, but with a different illness.
