Yoda is right. Our anger comes from fear. Fear of being bullied into silence. Fear of the IRS coming after us for our opinions. Fear of our businesses being destroyed by small-minded H8ers. Fear of a White House that finds myriad ways to harass and even imprison those who disagree with it. Fear of a media that lies and lies and lies, that covers up non-compliant reality in order to sell a left-wing narrative that will secure their sense of virtue and increase the political influence of their corporate bosses.

When a man like Trump seems to spit in the eye of the people we fear, we rally behind him thinking we’re fighting back. We’re not. We’re following our fear right down the rabbit hole....

Can't say I disagree. I remain unconvinced that Trump isn't (from his POV) negotiating with conservatives for his next business takeover. I don't see him as demonstrating any ideological motivation beyond changing the fiscal climate to benefit his own companies.

When there is anger (rarely real anger), I am quick to remind myself and family that we are Christians.

"Sort of kind of nasty" translates into the truth. Why aren't other GOP candidates able to say the same thing? Why is Trump's message resonating among the voters? Sanctuary cities have been around for almost two decades. Where has the outrage and passion been from the GOP about criminal alien crime that has killed tens of thousands of Americans and affected millions of Americans who have been the victims of these crimes. From a 2011 GAO Report that was requested by Steve King

The report’s findings include:

The number of criminal aliens in U.S. federal prisons in 2010 was estimated to be 55,000, a 7% increase since 2005. (The general U.S. federal prison population rose 14% over the same time.)

The total number of criminal aliens estimated to be in state and local prisons in 2009 was 296,000.

Between 2005 and 2009, the total annual cost of housing this population at all levels was between $1.5 and $1.6 billion.

The average criminal alien has been arrested seven times. Approximately 50% have been arrested for a drug-related offense, 65% for an immigration-related offense, 35% for assault, 19% for weapons violations and 8% for homicide.

Mexico is the country of origin for 68% of criminal aliens. Columbia and the Dominican Republic are the next most likely countries of origin, representing 5% each of the alien incarcerated population.

States with more than 10,000 criminal alien incarcerations are California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Illinois and New York. 74% of total incarcerations took place in California, Arizona and Texas.

The Left and RINOs have tried to hide the massive impact criminal alien crime has had on the American people. They also try to hide the other costs that are well over $100 billion annually. Stories like the Steinle incident are legion from all over the country. This is the norm and yet nary a word from the political elites who prefer sob stories about those "living in the shadows" or family dislocations or Dreamers. The rights of the illegals are more important than the safety and security of US citizens. It is a travesty. And we have the head of DHS defending the ignoring of federal laws by sanctuary cities. The Rule of Law? Forget about it.

Replace "Donald Trump" with "Jeb Bush" and the sentence is much more true.

woah there skippy.....down off your high horse. I don’t disagree with what Trump is saying. I have not love at all for the effeminate GOP e. And yeah, Klavan’s a little over the top snarky.

But that’s not Klavan’s point...his point is that Trump has been, VERY RECENTLY, pro universal health care, pro abortion, pro Hillary, pro amnesty and pro Obama.

Why don’t you address those?

Frankly, and this is from someone who is currently reading the Star Wars post Empire series of books, the star wars ideology is ridiculous. Anger doesn’t lead a person to evil. Christ was very angry when he turned the tables over in the temple.

Trump was right on illegal immigration, but I still think he is a joke of a candidate.

Well skippy, you seem to be missing Klavan's real point, i.e., to attack and discredit Trump as a candidate substantively and personally. He does not focus on why Trump is resonating with the voters or why the other candidates are not raising the same issue. Nor does he list the other GOP candidates who are pro amnesty, which include almost all of them.

I am not a Trump supporter, but I am not too disturbed that he contributed to both parties including Hillary who was at one time his senator. Most of the major businesses do something similar. As a real estate mogul, he must deal with zoning boards and local politicians to get things done. He pays lobbyists. That doesn't make him pro Hillary or pro Obama. Remember the birth certificate issue?

As far as other issues like Trump favoring universal healthcare, I have no idea what Klavan is referring to.

I believe that immigration. legal and illegal, is the defining issue of our time. It affects every major existential challenge facing this country. The GOPe is pushing amnesty and has sided with their corporate paymasters over the American worker who has been abandoned by both parties.

The firestorm that Trump has weathered from both sides is an indication that he has touched a nerve. The American people have been begging for someone to articulate their anger over criminal alien crime. Klavan joins a long list of supposedly conservative media who have attacked Trump personally over what he said, which was not over the top. It is a matter of documented fact. You know you are over the target when you receive this level of flack.

Attacking Trump over this issue along with his tone just makes his candidacy that more viable.

I disagree that Klavan’s main point is to attack Trump.....altho I agree he does attack some. His MAIN point is to tweak you for falling like a school girl for a man who is a crony capitalist, has recently been pro Obama, pro universal health care, pro Bill and Hillary and pro Clinton Crime Family Foundation...

You seem to excuse crony capitalism by Trump, and yet get angered when the GOP e does it. That’s intellectually dishonest.

LOL. His objective was to destroy Trump and call anyone who supports him as being stupid. I am not a Trump supporter, but I am not stupid. Calling Trump pro-Hillary and pro-Obama is ridiculous. You could say the same thing about Jeb and be more accurate.

The GOPe and its MSM lackeys wants to destroy Trump because they are worried that they will lose the Hispanic vote even worse. They favor amnesty and more guest workers. Klavan fits right in with George Will, Krauthammer, Brit Hume, etc. They do not want an anti-establishment candidate.

You seem to excuse crony capitalism by Trump, and yet get angered when the GOP e does it. That’s intellectually dishonest.

Federal, state, and local governments control more than 40% of the economy, putting us right up there or above many of the social welfare states in Europe. Almost one out of two Americans receive a government check of some kind. You are either a crony capitalist or you are out of business. You must plow the fields with the oxen God gave you. Trump didn't create crony capitalism. Our elected officials and the voters have allowed goverment to control more and more of their lives. 47 million on food stamps; 70 million on Medicaid; 47 million on Medicare; 53 million on SS. And those numbers will increase. The unfunded liabilities of government pensions threatens the financial well-being of our states and municipalities.

I don't blame Trump or any of the other crony capitalists who must play the hands they are dealt. Special interests run this country.

I don’t care what his objective is, and neither should you. You should concern yourself with whether or not he makes some valid points....and BTW, he does. The best way to test the strength of any person, any idea, any plan, is to see what those who want to destroy it say. DUH.

This whole thing of taking Jonah Goldberg or Andrew Klavan personally is just chilidish and drips with estrogen.

You'd love Russia today. And again, it's not about blaming Trump...but it damned sure does speak to the notion of whether or not he's the man to turn it around. He only knows the crony way....have you given up on America and to that idea?

You should use the same standard when judging Trump. He makes some valid points that seem to be resonating with the voters. According to some polls, he is in the lead.
