Trump's cash crunch
The American Thinker ^ | February 4, 2016 | Frank Friday

Count me in with those who suspect that Donald Trump is no billionaire, but merely a poseur who may never have recovered from his many big-deal failures, as AT and others have already noted. Ted Cruz is finally bringing this idea up, but it's a testimony to just how opaque Trump has made his finances that only recently has anyone outside the financial press even discussed the matter.

Trump just released his fourth-quarter FEC report, and again, the political press doesn't know what to make of it - beyond the fact that he lent his campaign $12.8 million, which in part went to pay back Trump entities for travel and event services. Real billionaires don't campaign like that; your Linda McMahon and Ross Perot and Meg Whitman just write checks for tens of millions without batting an eye. Trump, however, seems to be hoping (or needing) to get that money back in the future.

Trump has relied on the roughly $6.5 million in unsolicited small donations he received the last 3 months to pay for his late-starting television buys. This means he was badly outspent in Iowa, tying with Bobbie Jindal for money spent on Iowa TV. Then Trump's lack of organization in Iowa proved fatal, running against the competent Rubio campaign and the tech-savvy Cruz operation. And Trump made a laughingstock of his campaign with Tea Party reject Katrina Pierson. In fact, there hardly is an actual campaign - just his children, domestic staff, and Twitter followers.

I’ve been talking about this since June. Look at the evidence. Read Trump’s deposition from the lawsuit he lost against a well-researched book that showed evidence he has between $250 million and $350 million.

April 2011: Trump: I'm worth whatever I feel

"Donald Trump sued the author of a book over the question of his net worth....

......Throughout the deposition, Trump sparred with O'Brien's lawyer, Andrew Ceresney, over how the real estate tycoon determined what he was worth.

Trump: My net worth fluctuates, and it goes up and down with the markets and with attitudes and with feelings, even my own feelings, but I try.

Ceresney: Let me just understand that a little. You said your net worth goes up and down based upon your own feelings?

Trump: Yes, even my own feelings, as to where the world is, where the world is going, and that can change rapidly from day to day ...

Ceresney: When you publicly state a net worth number, what do you base that number on?

Trump: I would say it's my general attitude at the time that the question may be asked. And as I say, it varies.

But the deposition shows Trump's valuation of his properties can be at odds with others' views."

CNN LARRY KING LIVE - Interview with Donald Trump - Aired April 15, 2009

KING: There are a lot of great topics. One of them is Barack Obama. In fact, the list at the back of the book on the topics, the number one is, "Barack Obama's election ushers in a different world."

How do you assess him?

TRUMP: Well, I really like him. I think that he's working very hard. He's trying to rebuild our reputation throughout the world. I mean, we really have lost a lot of reputation in the world. The previous administration was a total disaster, a total catastrophe.

And, you know, the world looks at us differently than they used to. And I think he's trying to restore our reputation within the world. And he was handed a pretty bad deck of cards. I mean, he was given a pretty tough situation.

And I'm not saying I agree with everything he's doing. I do agree with what they're doing with the banks. Whether they fund them or nationalize them, it doesn't matter, but you have to keep the banks going.

Beyond that, I'm not so sure I agree with it, because I...I am worried, ultimately, about inflation. If you take this much money and keep pouring it into the economy, I worry about what's going to happen in two years with respect to not only interest rates, but inflation.

KING: Do you have any regrets about endorsing McCain?

TRUMP: No. I've known John for a long time. And I've never met our current president. And I look forward to doing it. But I've known John, really, for a long time. He's a good man. He's a quality man. So certainly I have no regrets about that."....

If Trump says he’s a billionaire, then he is. If he says he’s a gazillionaire, then he is. The leader is always right. The leader is never wrong.

This is why he tweets “not worth it” when spending his own money.

Next we’ll hear him go all Plato’s Republic and say, “I don’t need to campaign. If you want to elect me, then vote for me. I’m your servant if you want me, but I’m not going to beg for it.”

Hahahahahaaaa!

You hitch your wagon to a serial liar and try to make that sort of claim!

Not my favorite site but reveals Teddy Bare:

Ted Cruz (T-TX) calls himself a Southern Baptist, so he should know the Ninth Commandment.

A full 54 percent of Ted Cruz's statements have been rated "false" or "pants on fire" by PolitiFact. Another 20 percent are only "half true." That's 74 percent of Cruz's statements failing the truth test.

We're used to politicians lying to us, of course. But the frequency of Cruz's lies is actually staggering. Compare Cruz's 74 percent lying rate with Rick Perry's 48 percent and John Cornyn's 56 percent. Cruz is in rarified with Michele Bachmann as one of this country's biggest political liars. Whenever Ted Cruz opens his mouth, there's a 3/4 chance he's lying.

Cruz, you may remember, says he has a secret list of communists at Harvard Law School, and bravely exposed a Democratic plot to shutter Catholic charities and hospitals.

Guess you could say he's lying for Jesus.

It is literally, a cult. There's no other way to describe it. And to be fair, there is push-back from the Cruz cult.

It's still frightening to watch.

Interesting concept, but I’m skeptical.

I’d have to see some real evidence — not just innuendo — before I’d buy in.

See, this is why FR sucks these days because of people like you.

Before Trump, everyone on FR knew that Politifact was an arm of the Annenberg foundation, a notoriously liberal group, and that you couldn’t trust their fact checking for sh!t. Now Trumpettes post crap from sites like Politifact, Mother Jones, and The Nation as gospel if it is anti-Cruz or pro-Trump. (Amongst other liberal sources.)

Sorry, but you turds are trying hard to turn our site into DU.

Cruz was a totally acceptable conservative until these Trumpettes showed up. It has nothing to do with a Cruz cult. It has to do with trying to stop the Trumpettes from steamrolling everyone else in favor of their poseur.

Trump busts Cruz for a garden variety margin loan that anyone can take from the their Merrill Lynch brokerage account.

Then Trump lends his campaign 12.5 million ( as opposed to writing a check), hoping to get it paid back -— from donations??

I wonder if Trump has enough liquidity to truly fund a data operation and ground game for the long haul that it will take get the nomination.

Rubio Spent that most in IOWA, followed by Cruz.

Now Cruz and Rubio will have all the money they need for a competitive ground game.

If Trump’s lead in NH evaporates to single digits, he could be in trouble.

Rubio will make Florida very competitive and Cruz will be VERY tough in Texas and the SEC...
