I'm not sure how to verify this is actually true so I wasn't positive where to post it. At any rate, it's an interesting story / account. I don't know if there is any way possible to verify this as truth or fiction... but I thought you'd all enjoy the story at least. I know I got a chuckle out of it

Wouldn’t be surprised if it were true. I’ve heard more than one first-hand accounts, most from Rangers incidentally, of hand-to-hand kills.

I know of a man that killed a Japnese soldier with a screwdriver in a latrine at night.
That, my FReeoer friends, is truly hardcore.
War ain’t quite what Hollowood wants to portray it is.

Good story.
Watch out for pop-up ads and such, if you go to that site....

I hope I didn’t post an ad-bait story. I don’t usually notice because of adblock

Good stuff (improvise), good site, and just close the pop-ups. Many, many sites have them.

Well . . . maybe. I would have thought that at some point the Ranger’s buddies might have assisted when the fight was in doubt.
I guess it could have happened the way it was written.

I would have thought they`d be made of metal, aluminum at least, if not stainless.

The utensils issues with the mess kits are metal; those issued with MREs are plastic/disposable.

The funny thing about MREs, each contains a pack of toilet paper. The MRE blocks you up so bad, you usually eat about 10 before having a BM which is convenient because it takes at least 10 packs of TB to take care of your business after eating MREs.

That toilet paper packet is tiny; a former Marine described to me how they were shown to continuously fold the sheets to make them last (to do the whole job).
The little Tabasco sauce bottles are great; they aren’t so much for flavor as much as to let you pretend the food was cooked (if you have to eat them cold). The MRE heaters are incredible; just add water and a chemical reaction heats it up...

My uncle said there was hand to hand during a rescue of hostages at a Korean POW camp that held NORTH Koreans.
I forget the specifics. Seems a higher up went to the camp and got himself kidnapped.

I would put a little sand or dirt from each place I was deployed in one of those little Tobasco bottles and label it. Some day I’ll dig them out of storage and show the grand kids.
