Conventional wisdom among many of my peers in the "pro-Israel" community is that Rubio & Cruz are indistinguishable as it relates to support for Israel, and on Foreign Policy as a whole. Is that indeed true?...

I’d trust Cruz over Rubio.

Cruz is said to be a strategic thinker while Rubio is a tactical thinker. A strategic thinker is what is needed. Having one’s heart in the right place is not enough.

A strategic thinker thinks 5 or 10 moves ahead in the Chess game. When the Neo-Cons invaded Iraq they had a great first move in the chess game: Topple Sadam.

But the Neo-Cons had no clue what to do next. They disbanded the Iraqi Army because they could not see several moves ahead in the game. They claimed to be conservative but championed a big Central government while neutering local governments, which demonstrated no concept of a future to the game.

Hopefully Cruz is the strategist we need. But Rubio would certainly be better than what we have now. At least his heart is in the right place.

An amazing read that clarifies the differences between Cruz and Rubio on Israel AND overall foreign policy 'view' relating to the East. I agree that forcing Democracy on nations is not the way to go....obvious it doesn't work as we've watched the ME fall into total disarray. Further their very cultures cannot adapt to the basic politics of a Democracy.

I have always said, we should have taken out the dictatorships in Iraq, Iran, and Syria, or not gone in at all.
