General David Petraeus was always an a** kissing, self-promoting, weasel. There’s something mentally wrong with that creep. Admiral Fallon had him pegged years before his belated downfall. The fact that he wound up CIA chief is terrifying.

General Petraeus gave classified information to a slut/reporter, got caught. Politics aside, he has no credibility.

Well, no he didn’t.
He allowed his mistress, an Army officer and his biographer, to read his personal note books. She had clearance for everything she saw. What he got in trouble for was mishandling classified information. His possession of these notebooks outside a secure facility was what they “got him on.”
I am not condoning his affair, or his showing her the notebooks. That was wrong. But she was not a journalist, she was a writer. And as an Army Officer she had the clearance.
If we are gonna hate on the general, we should be accurate in our insults.

Petraeus was a fraud who betrayed his wife & family, his country and every officer he pretended to lead.
Your statement regarding his self-serving slut is incorrect. Having the requisite clearance is insufficient justification to access classified material. You must also have an operational “need to know” which, as a writer/biographer, she clearly did not have. Petreus knew this which is why he chose to secretly provide her the documents rather than just ask the custodian to grant her access....which surely would have been denied.

The key problem here is that any truly honorable officers would have resigned their commissions long ago when it was obvious to all that the national security establishment of the United States had gone rogue and was pursuing its own agenda separate from and to the detriment of the American people.
Just the fact that he held the office he did when he did, and did not resign in protest, is enough to convict him.
The kool aid was thinking he was a good general. What piece of generalship made him better than mediocre? He’s an MBA in a green suit.
That’s my take. We haven’t had a single General since Schwartzkopf.
