There have been numerous articles about the crime of the century that’s only 16 years old. In one, it’s claimed that a crowd of screaming Brazilians, eager to taste American blood surrounded the car he was in, banging on it, apparently on the verge of being a murderous mob, so much so that the harried by the lies of Lochte Rio police had to save him out of a total dedication to law enforcement principles. But oddly, nowhere in the article that contains dozens of photos do we see a murderous mob. Only a mob of reporters surrounding the car Lochte was in.

To me, Lochte is definitely NOT the kind of American that I’d want to hang any argument on about how “we’re not like that.”
Brazil is a dump. Murders by the score everyday and everyone whines about an Olympic athlete. Let Brazil take care of their own messes first.

I certainly am not going to be one to condemn Rio on the basis of this putz’ antics. There is too much other truer evidence on which to do that.
If you want to blame RIO for the Olympics, blame those a$$holes at the IOC for picking the place. It is the biggest scam in the ‘athletics’ work IMO.

It’s always easy to go after successful people, especially Americans in Third Worlder type countries.
I have seen no evidence from Brazilian police of a damaged bathroom or urine in the bathroom.
What I do see is apparent arguments between the swimmers and the staff. I do see an American ripping down a poster.
Now here is what alarms me. They are leaving when a guy, who is not a security guard or dressed as a security guard, draws his gun on them inside a cap and forces them to put their hands up and sit.
At this point, we are told the Americans “agree” to pay 50 dollars. If so much damage....why so little money?
Ok, they were celebrating and got drunk and went overboard to an extent. But no evidence of any serious wrong doing. And for that they are forced off an aircraft??

Are you serious? They admitted they made it up. They were a bunch of drunk idiots who got in way over their heads and forgot that video captures everything. And ended up filing a false police report.

You and I have the same take on this.
I "get it" that they were drunk, and to someone who is drunk and not familiar with the various iterations of Brazilian police uniforms, a security guard might appear to them as a man masquerading as a Brazilian police officer.
I can see in the video that they have their hands up. It has been agreed on all sides that the man pulled a gun on them. Seeing no obvious damage as has been alleged, at this point it looks reasonable to conclude they were "shaken down" i.e. robbed.
Some one of them is saying that $400.00 was taken. It is only the Brazilian police saying that it was $50.00.
Now Brazil wants $11,000.00 donated to charity to let the man have his passport back?
Third world shakedown is what it looks like to me.
As soon as they are all safely back in this country, they need to recant the spin Brazil is trying to put on this.
