Pro-Life Ted Cruz brokering Trump deal for Supreme Court
TruNews ^ | December 12, 2016

A deal is being brokered for Senator Ted Cruz to fill a Supreme Court vacancy in exchange for a pro-Trump replacement in his Texas seat.

•Source: “A deal” is being cut which would see Cruz nominated on the condition that a pro-Trump Republican could be found to replace him in the Senate.
•Unclear whether Cruz would be immediately nominated to replace Justice Antonin Scalia.
•Cruz was not on Trump’s list of potential Supreme Court picks vetted by Federalist Society.
•Cruz is currently publicly planning to run for re-election in 2018.
•Source: Privately he's ready and willing to become a Supreme Court Justice.
•Alan Dershowitz on Cruz: “One of the best students I ever had.”
•Source: Cruz is widely praised as a legal scholar and orator, but is disliked by Senate colleagues.

(FRESNO, CA) Texas Senator Ted Cruz is set to be nominated for a position on the Supreme Court by President-elect Donald J. Trump if current trends hold, a source close to the process tells GotNews.

The source told GotNews that “a deal” is being cut which would see Cruz nominated to the Supreme Court on the condition that a pro-Trump Republican could be found to replace Ted Cruz in the Senate.

It is unclear whether Cruz would be immediately nominated to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, who died earlier this year, or if his nomination would come later. While Cruz was not on Trump’s list of potential Supreme Court picks, he undoubtedly fits the bill as a staunch conservative constitutionalist.

Cruz, who won his Texas Senate seat in 2012, is publicly planning to run for re-election in 2018. Privately, it seems he’s ready and willing to become a Supreme Court Justice.

Ted Cruz was Donald Trump’s earliest ally and final foe in the Republican presidential primaries. He has steadily reconciled with Trump since the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July earlier this year.

Cruz has been described by his former law professor and world-famous lawyer Alan Dershowitz as “one of the best students I ever had.” Cruz is widely praised as a legal scholar and orator, despite being notoriously disliked among his Senate colleagues.

That dislike may make a Cruz confirmation very easy in the Senate.

There are lots of acceptable supreme court candidates in Texas.

We certainly do not need this creepy turd who sided with Muslims, blacklivesmatter thugs, and illegal aliens when they physically attacked Trump voters at Trump’s Chicago rally. He and his weird followers need to leave Texas, but not for the Supreme Court.

Well, perhaps it’s best now. Though I don’t know if he’d get a single Dem vote, and there’s a few Repubs that probably won’t either.

He’s a sociopath but, dammit, he’s OUR sociopath. I would much rather have someone on the court who didn’t have such questionable views on birth right citizenship and whether or not he is a Canuckistinian.

Great, this will mean anyone can run for president of the US, no matter where they were born!

LOL, well said.

Despite my objections to Cruz’s POTUS ambitions, a good Senator he makes, and quite possibly a good Justice.

Cruz is clearly qualified and I think well suited tempermant-wise for the Supreme Court. His career has been constitutional law, he’s unquestionably conservative, and in a meritocracy that’s what should count - not personalities.

You can bet that Hillary would have appointed someone a whole lot “creepier” had she won, so let’s not forget how fortunate we are to even be having this conversation. Presidents last 4 or 8 years but Cruz or whoever Trump appoints could be on the Supreme Court for 40 or 50 years.

Yes, that is a problem, along with the other ones he was hiding, not a good pick to my way of thinking.

“That dislike may make a Cruz confirmation very easy in the Senate.”

haha he could wave the Soviet flag during a 12 hour filibuster and everyone will still vote to confirm him!

Are any posters here from Texas? Cruz will win in a heartbeat here. Everyone here seems to think Cruz has some sort of problem from the election. He came in a strong second. He is smarter than Trump. He has the Constitution memorized. He fulfills every requirement of FR on the Constitution, yet people here revile him. He can be a Senator or a Scotus. I would be pleased if he was Scotus. He has been a damn good Senator for Texas so far. Either way America wins.

He will be positioning himself to run in 2020 however. When Trump gets cornered over the next 4 years, we will need a conservative to run next time. Unless of course you all want Jeb! to run again.

I muse that Ted...if he gets the gig....will hold the record for interrogatory during hearings, as Clarence holds the record for the opposite.

Ted so loves the sound of his own voice.

That is not, however, to say his self-absorption will be a bad thing: after some time, the liberal leaners will surely yield to end the tedium.

Cruz has a ‘woman’ problem the liberals will relish in exposing. Think Justice Thomas’ hearings were wild... and out there... I do not believe for a second Cruz wants that kind of cavity search. AND imagine the libs grilling him over NOT knowing he was a Canadian citizen...

Makes sense because Cruz has huge likability issues, but would make a good Judge IMO.
