The latest crusade by the Democrats appears to be a strategy trying to convince enough Republican electors to deny Donald Trump their votes, in order to drop his electoral count below the 270 required, before they meet to finalize the election on December 19th.
Donald Trump won 306 electoral votes during the election, but if faithless elector Chris Suprun in Texas follows through with his claim that he will not cast his vote for Trump, then the President-elect will end up at 305.
A group of Democrat electors calling themselves the "Hamilton Electors", named after the Broadway play about the life of Alexander Hamilton, are attempting to convince a total of 37 Trump electors to deny him their electoral votes on December 19th. Their hopes are to drop Trump's total down to 269, causing our next president to be chosen by the House of Representatives.
The Hamilton Elector's website claims that the Founding Father intended the Electoral College to be a safety guard against electing an "unfit man" as president, which isn't entirely true. In reality the Electoral College was intended to give voters in rural areas an equal voice in choosing their president, otherwise urban voters and their priorities would always overcome them.
It seems the Hamilton Electors are ramping up their efforts and investing serious money (notice they are collecting donations from their website of course) into an advertising campaign with Google, as they have been circulating ads across the Internet implying that Trump is somehow in league with Russia.
In fact, these ads were even featured on conservative websites like Breitbart that utilize Google's advertising program.
The ads seem to be attempting to brand Trump as a "Russian stooge" and using a twisting his famous slogan into "Trump wants to make Russia great again", indicating they are using this narrative as a springboard for their efforts in gaining support.
Although not too many people were taking the efforts to overturn the electoral college results seriously, an article last week featured in The Washington Post stating that an unnamed "source" not only told them a CIA report has concluded that Russia interfered with the election, but did so with the intention to help Donald Trump become the next president.
The Hamilton Electors are also demanding that all 538 members of the electoral college receive an intelligence report from the CIA regarding evidence pointing to Russian hacking influencing the election results. I imagine they are hoping that the shaky conclusions in this report somehow scare enough Trump electors into changing their votes.
Another 19 electors have joined a demand for an intelligence briefing over Russian meddling in the election before they formally cast ballots later this month, bringing the total number of Electoral College members to sign on to the effort to 29.Note that the sole evidence the Hamilton electors are using as justification for their campaign is "various media sources", which coincidentally were all extremely anti-Trump during the electionThe open letter the new signatories signed on to was released Monday. In it, the original 10 electors, nine of whom are Democrats and one of whom is Republican, formally asked Director of National Intelligence James Clapper for direct confirmation over whether Russia meddled in the election before they formally cast ballots in the Electoral College later this month.
Citing various media reports that the CIA has proof Russia hacked various systems in the U.S. in an attempt to meddle in the election in Trump's favor, the 10 electors said they "require to know from the intelligence community whether there are ongoing investigations into ties between Donald Trump, his campaign or associates, and Russian government interference in the election, the scope of those investigations, how far those investigations may have reached, and who was involved in those investigations."
What a coincidence that after Jill Stein's recount efforts in battleground states that Trump won have failed, a story featured in a newspaper owned by notorious Trump critic Jeff Bezos just happen to give the Hamilton Electors a narrative to use in their efforts to overthrow democracy.
Although it's highly unlikely that this effort will result in a drastic amount of electors changing their votes, it does appear that the Hamilton Electors are taking their campaign seriously, and when this doesn't work I'm sure they'll have another Trump offensive ready to go.
But just in the past month we've had the anti-Trump protests, intimidating and threatening of his electors, the Jill Stein recount, the media frenzy over Trump's cabinet picks and now the Russian hackers.
It's going to be a long 4 to 8 years, unless Trump can manage to sweep out the corruption infecting our government and media.
When they prove that Russia had nothing to do with the Wikileaks material the libtards are going to have a meltdown. I think there’s rumors of this about to happen or that it has happened already. Can’t wait to see them get another spanking...
And the the number of electors demanding a security briefing is up to 40, all but one of them Democrats so they continue to describe the demand as bipartisan.
