While there is no single, overarching explanation for Donald Trump’s election...

A friend once said, “What good is freedom of speech, if nobody can hear you?”Whom gets heard and whom does not, is the job of the “gatekeeper.”The “gatekeepers” are the assault on the 1st amendment of our Constitution. But, the “gatekeepers” are no longer relevant.

Due to defects in data collection methods, neither the main article nor the blog posts it uses as sources identify Free Republic or Lucianne.com as helping the Right disseminate supposed “fake news.” This is to the good in that it helps to avoid the Left’s targeting and validates the FR non-commercial model as continuing to evade the enemy’s radar and avoid retaliation and counter-influence based on commercial pressure.

Yep, there were some people on our side who boasted they never went on sites (way beyond just Twitter and Facebook) where there were liberals (or even indies) and criticized anyone who left the pro-Trump echo chamber. Sometimes these were the same people insulting and alienating Cruz supporters who were dubious about Trump, instead of trying to convince them with evidence and reasonable arguments that Trump wasn’t as liberal or bad as they thought (as I tried to do here and elsewhere). In other words, all these complainers did online was to avoid or attack those with different opinions, while actively working to lose votes for Trump.

Thank God, there were a lot of others who engaged people who were not Trump supporters and who were in many cases not conservatives to let them know the positive things Trump wanted to do and to correct their misconceptions about him, as well as to spread the word about Hillary that the media was reluctant to report. Lots of times you can’t convince certain people to change their minds (although sometimes you do plant a seed that may eventually take root), but look at how many additional people come across your comments and realize there’s another side to the story than what the press or their left-wing friends told them. Our side has to engage the rest of the population. It works.

As for hooking up with like-minded souls, Free Republic had that problem solved long before even the Tea Party. In fact I would say that FR was the geneses of the Tea Party of like minded souls. Thank you Jim Rob.

That frenzy was totally justified and as the Wikileaks information came out they found that their worst fears were not nearly extreme enough to match reality.

The aspect of the Wikileaks emails from the DNC that was surprising to me was the blatant collusion between the MSM and the DNC. I always knew the MSM was sympathetic to the Dems, what I never knew before was that they openly colluded to the point of clearing their stories with the DNC prior to publication.

The emails documented the corruption between the DNC and MSM; literally in writing. And what has the MSMs reaction been to having this collusion exposed? Contrition for doing wrong? No. Instead they've doubled down and gone looking for a scapegoat in the form of "Russian hacking".

Trust in the MSM has dropped over the years and now hovers around 30%. Looks like they're now shooting for zero.

For me it was Trump when he laughed at lttle Marco and said “you’ve never created a job. You never hired anybody. I’ve hired thousands of people.”

And then “because you’d be in jail.”

Not to mention the monor detail that he was the only person on either side saying he would always put America and America first.

Vs Hillary Merkel?

Pu-lease.

people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists
I wonder if the author knows he is projecting.
That seems to be the only interesting question raised by the piece.

We were the backbone of Trump’s campaign

Yup, no vitriol here during the primaries or the election. ;o)

I too was a Cruz supporter based on his intellect and fondation in the Founding Fathers. However; his strange behavior during the campaign sent me to Trump and I think the best man for the office won. (And his wife seemed a bit creepy to me too but that did not really count.)

This has been going on since the invention of newspapers, but the ordinary man had no way to see it, understand the reality, or fight back.

Not exactly correct. In the revolutionary period up till about the 1880’s, the media was partisan and everyone knew it. Cost of entry into the media was not very high. The change was when the media become much more centrally controlled, starting with the AP.

Now we are moving back to a time where the media is partisan, and everyone knows it. Entry into the media is the cost of a computer and an Internet connection.

We had partisan media for a hundred years, a transitional period for about 40 -60 years as the U.S. media became controlled by “progressives”, aided by the Soviets, then a wildly partisan, claiming to be objective “progressive” media for 30 years (when most of the damage to the culture, constitution, and society was done, about 1963-1994), then a transition period back toward partisan media for about 20 years, and we are in partisan media mode now.

Not a very informative article. The left CERTAINLY “got” the internet in 2008, when Obama crushed McCain in the use of new media.

Our “How Trump Won” is out in 16 days and will have a more detailed explanation. Part involves the rallies, which no one really understood as a marketing tool.

Will the report HRC’s abandoned vote-fraud? I think O’Keefe went *way* deeper into the lion’s den than we know, and scared fraudsters off their plans. Nothing else explains Zero/HRC’s confidence right up to the end.

Well, I voted for Cruz although my heart was more with Trump. However, when Trump won, I jumped on the Trump train enthusiastically, although I knew he was going to lose.

Boy, was I wrong, and never happier to admit it. If Donald only pleases me one or two more times as much as he did election night, he will go down in history as one of the greatest presidents inhistory.
