No, “man up” is shaming language used by feminists (not the butch types) to get them to accept the role of “provider” and to start a family. They use that pressure to force men in to it.
Guns aren't toys. Or maybe they are. Guns aren't sex toys for gay people, or maybe they are. It appears though that guns certainly are props for the immature and the vain among us.
Don't you have homework to do?

That’s pretty much typical for me, with either pistol or rifle on any given day. I’m a slow shooter, taking my time with each shot, calling them in my head, and evaluating what happened to try to get better. I have friends at the range that I see often. Talking is almost as big a part of my range time as shooting is, and you meet good people at the range.
Your experience may differ, but I enjoy it in the way that someone else might enjoy playing darts. With that much practice and daily dry fire, my shooting turns out pretty well. If I take a deer (inexpensive, healthy lean meat), I go for the head shot and drop it right there instead of tracking. I’m too old to follow a wounded deer all night!
I don’t feel like shooting makes me a boy or a man. It’s a hobby and a skill that’s fun to maintain. In an emergency, if firearms can solve a problem, I will at least be able to hit whatever might be worth shooting at (I’m reasonably good with moving targets, not just with punching holes in paper).
I was thinking the same thing. A little too metrosexual.
You need to get out and shoot more. It takes me a box or two of ammo to warm up and I don’t really start enjoying range time until about shot 50. Depending on caliber, it stays fun until about shot 300.
When you are in the zone, the troubles of the day fade as you put 100% of yourself into that front sight. It really is therapeutic.
Your whole post makes complete sense to me. It also reminds me of why I don’t shoot much: I’m cheap. Cartridges are just too expensive for me. :-)
BTW, I let a local kid hunt in my woods. He brings me well dressed deer meat. We see a lot of deer and turkey on our property. I’ve thought about giving it a go, but I need to bone up on how to dress both.
Last week my wife called me at work and said it sounded like there were hundreds of turkeys in the woods next to our house. It is not unusual for me to hear a couple as I get into my car, but that was nuts.
Try reloading, it is almost as relaxing as shooting and decreases the cost.

Grew up on a ranch, where having access to firearms was a given. My grandfather carried a 30/30 on the tractor, and I had a single shot .22. I would be allowed to shoot rabbits or skunk, and we had a lot of them, but it was the experience of growing up at that time. There was an acceptance of responsibility for a young person to understand what they had and how to properly use it. Also, there was a proud feeling to be handed that responsibility, a feeling of accomplishment recognized by your family and friends. For us it was a tool, like a shovel. They were not a button to be pushed on a play station and then turned off and the characters you shot came back to life. So you learned respect for the firearm and the people around you.

What these Lefties are doing is promote their meme that a firearm is more than an inert device - it gives one power like that ring in Lord of the Rings.
The italicized line above reminded me of a long-ago Playboy anti-gun article on why people shouldn't have guns. The technique was very similar to this. The writer picks up a gun and . . ."I could feel the power creeping up my arm, growing with every second, and after a few moments, I FELT LIKE A GOD!"
I wrote back that sane guys pick up a gun, check to see if it is loaded, admire the heft and workmanship and maybe do a bit of aiming or dry firing in a safe direction. I further agreed with him that people shouldn't own firearms if they had the same reaction he did, which was totally atypical.
This is damning with faint praise.

Haha. I bet the .30-30 didn’t work. When I was a kid my family bought 2 BRAND NEW Winchesters that tried to cycle all their bullets at once, a new in box .444 Marlin who’s lever wouldn’t close, and a .357 Henry that wouldn’t feed rounds. My mother said “no more lever action trash in my house” and that was it. I refuse to buy lever guns. 4 out of 4 factory new guns didn’t work. I much prefer my scoped AK. At least I know it will cycle and fire
That’s kind of expensive. And finding replacement ammo can be a challenge at times.
You might try some high quality air guns instead. MUCH more cost effective. You can fire 500 rounds a day for less than the cost of a hamburger.
If you look on-line, you can find clones of most popular handguns. They have nearly the same look, feel, weight and balance as their respective firearms, and similar operation.
The kick and noise are a lot less, but low noise is an advantage. If you wish you can even set up a target range in your basement.
Buy an IO or Century RAS47 and the AK might not always cycle. I build and repair AKs so I’ve seen a few stinkers.
I have 3 lever action rifles, .22, .30-30, and .45-70, and they’ve been no problem.
Starting shooting Guns when I was eight.
I “owned” a Bolt Action .22 Rifle and a .410 Shotgun given to me by my Father.
Kept them in my Bedroom Closet, er Gun Safe....
They still don’t get it.
