New Orleans Official Blamed Flooding On ‘Climate Change,’ But Broken Pumps Were To Blame

New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board director Cedric Grant blamed widespread flooding over the weekend on “climate change,” but it wasn’t long before news broke that broken water pumps were actually to blame.

Throughout the week, media reports have shown that New Orleans’s antiquated water pumping system failed to keep flooding at bay, and the problem hasn’t been resolved.

The mayor’s office warned Thursday morning a fire had taken out a turbine that powers most water pumping stations in the East Bank of New Orleans.

With more heavy rain forecast for this week, Mayor Mitch Landrieu is asking residents to prepare for flooding.

BWAHAHAHA!

I suppose technically, it was man-made flooding, because some man didn't maintain the pumps.

Yeah, but what broke the pumps in the first place? Global Warming causes water (and everything else) to heat up. Warm water expands, and I’m sure that’s what caused the pipes to brake.

Why do I have to think of everything around here?

Of course, it's easier to blame climate change than to take responsibility for failing to properly maintain the equipment your $175,000 salary says you're supposed to do.

And this is Trump’s fault isn’t it?

I still am frustrated all these years later, that the liberals and the media balmed Bush for Katrina. In spite of a Democrat mayor and a Democrat governor, it was a republican president who was to blame.

I’m willing to bet taxpayer money was paid to “maintain the pumps”. Wonder where it really went?

As climate changes, more pumps will begin to fail, or less of them. Worse case scenario is that it will remain about the same.

Building below Sea Level is to blame.

All that TAXPAYER money wasted after Katrina rebuilding New Orleans Neighborhoods still frosts me to this day.

Oh yeah, that and the TAXPAYER funded Debit Cards that were given out like Candy after Katrina that kept the Casinos and Strip Clubs happy as Clams.

“Think of everything” ... except how to spell “break.” Nice try.

“The mayor’s office warned Thursday morning a fire had taken out a turbine that powers most water pumping stations in the East Bank of New Orleans.”

Fire was caused by global warming.

The political question is:

What percentage of the voters believed that it was climate change versus inept management and maintenance?

No, I meant “brake”. The pipes braked, just like a car brakes. Everything stops.

(Sorry, but that’s the best defense I can offer.)

LOL...you know, as I was pondering it, I actually thought “brake” could actually be applied here, too. The pumps “braked” to a halt.

Then I thought, “Nah, it’s Saturday morning...good time to bust his chops!”

BINGO! Someone should have spoken up the day after they started building New Orleans 6’ below sea level, and put a stop to it then. The amount of tax money spent to reconstruct after every flood is incalculable.

Gee, incompetence in NO city gubermint. Next you’ll try to tell me there’s gambling going on at Rick’s Place in Casablanca.

When I had the great displeasure to live in the Baton Rouge area, every time there was any kind of severe weather warning early in the morning, radio and TV stations passed along an order for non-essential state “workers” to stay home (with pay, of course). That amounted to about 80% of the total staff.

Miraculously, during the annual budget crunch, 80% of state workers were suddenly classified as essential so they could continue to get paid when there was no funding available.

Perhaps the money for the pumps went to a “higher” priority — Taking down the politically incorrect statue of Robert E. Lee and other southerners related to the CSA.
