Don't believe the Hype! When the Dems are ruling, there is no talk about bipartisanship.
Please get this one.
It's only when the Repubs, disgusting as they are, are in power that it is time for bipartisanship. I call buullnonsense.
Stand your ground . save the country! Save the world!
bttt!
“Yes, why is no one talking about if the damn parents are still here. “
because only Americans whose neighborhoods have been taken over by Mexico and the rest of the illegal alien 3rd world care.
Bushiot Republicans don’t. They want to hand them all amnesty just like Obama Democrats do.
And it’s not just Mexico. Anyone who can afford a plane ticket comes here and demands that Americans get out of the way and pay up.
My sister noticed that I always chose to live in “white neighborhoods.” I chose to live around conservatives in CA, Arizona and believe it or not, my neighbors are expats in Mexico that are conservatives and Trump supporters.
I was not really affected by the encroachment of Mexicans in my past neighborhoods, but I saw the creeping deterioration that it brought to others and I was alarmed and activated.
The Tea Party in Tucson was a wondrous thing. My senior citizen friends ( we are not that age, yet) were fighting for their kids and grankids future.
Frankly, I don’t know how people can live with themselves who illegal stay here. It’s breaking two commandments: thou shall not steal; thou shall not covet thy neighbors goods.
No. He’s going to get the wall, end chain migration and the visa lottery which is worth it.
IF Trump does everything he wants to except the wall I will not desert him...even if he gets half done
How get rid of press 2 for Espanol?
It was my post at #102.
I think he is just angry. I forget sometimes that there are some people who aren’t really interested in discussion, and I accidentally included him in the ping on it.
TY. Not sure how angry anyone should get at that post, even if they might disagree with a few points.. If we got all that, I'd be thrilled.
I think it is important that we understand just how divisive and corrosive this issue is. (some do, and some don’t)
You took the time to read my post, and while you can see some desirable things in there, you can also (rightfully so) see some things that are less digestible or desirable.
And I get that, because I don’t like them.
But I assume you can see it is just...discussion; thinking aloud.
Sure, in an ideal world, we would like Trump to wave a wand, get a wall built, get infrastructure in place via computers, automation and people to make it effective, and implement all those things that Freeper lurkinandloomin stated in his very concise and accurate post, end chain migration, lotteries, etc.
But we live in a Constitutional Republic, not a Banana Republic (or at least, we used to). If we controlled the House and Senate with wide enough margins and those offices were held by people brave enough to do the right thing, sure. We could wave the wand and make it happen, and simply disincentivize illegal immigration and enforce the laws on the books and deport everyone.
But we don’t, so that isn’t going to happen, period. It just isn’t.
So, our priority should be to get a wall built.
And we are approaching the point where we are going to have to begin gambling with those chips of compromise, hoping that having a physical, manned, and effective border control is the one thing that will differentiate this from endeavors in the past (including Ronald Reagan’s amnesty) where we had to depend on the word of Leftists to keep their end of the bargain, which we know is completely worthless. Only if we get a wall built and working, will we be able to avoid having them pull the immigration football away as we try to kick it.
So here we are.

The infuriating thing, to me, is that the Left knows this very just EXACTLY how corrosive and divisive this issue is.
They understand that in some ways, this is like abortion, an issue they have used so well in the past to the same ends. (Their problem with using abortion in this fashion is that is has an obvious drawback in comparison to immigration-for all but the most dogmatic and rabid of the leftists, they readily see they have no answer for the horrible reality of a late term abortion, that it is murder...not “abortion”. Immigration has no such drawback, so they are exploiting it for all it is worth.)

In light of that, the lefties get a three-fer out of this:
First, they get to do all they can to break down America as they see it, and through changing the demographics and voting patterns via deliberately uncontrolled and incentivized illegal immigration (as several Freepers such as Mmaschin and nickcarraway have both pointed out)
Second, they get to claim the high ground by claiming the humanitarian mantle and cloak of righteousness, aided by a willing and compliant media, while at the same time demonizing their opponents as xenophobic bigots opposed to all immigrants, legal and otherwise. (They would never say “all immigrants, legal and ILLEGAL” because that would validate our view that people here illegally are breaking the law)
Third, they get to gleefully divide their opponents the way we see Freepers attack each other on these types of issues. This is a desirable and joyous happenstance on their part since it both weakens us and strengthens them, apart from simply providing them with entertainment. This is one of the most infuriating aspects of all of this.
We may disagree a bit that was a good post. Sources, numbers, et al, well done—respect
First and foremost I don’t see why there is a negotiation here. Did Obama and the democrats in congress negotiate Obamacare or anything else? No, they just did it. Somehow our side has gotten stuck on the idea that there HAS TO BE a negotiation. we are accepting a false premise.
Trump should lean on McConnell to get rid of the filibuster on budget matters, McConnell already did on judicial appointees, so why not budget matters? this will avert a government shutdown over DACA. And prevent the dems from using the shutdown threat again (and they will, count on it)
the wall vs DACA. the wall was going to be 2,000 miles now it is cut to 700 miles. will 700 miles be effective? also a wall can’t really stop people until it is mostly or entirely up, we don’t know how long it will take to put most or all of it up. and a change in congressional control could stop it at any time so could a dem presidency.
All in all I would rather have a wall and DACA than no wall and no DACA. But the numbers a wall would prevent are a big uncertainty. Better to end the budget filibuster and push for No DACA and a fully funded wall.
Just my opinion. Thank you for your time.
amihow, I enjoy so much of what you have to impart about Mexico. (I have caught your post today, too. Very good.)Can you put me on your ping list. Thank-you
I need to write a bit about why the current policy of keeping illegal immigrants in this country is destroying Mexico. The young and the strong can worm their way inhere leaving the elderly and women and children victims of criminal gangs who demand protection money from the very remittances sent from the United States.
The problem is caused by the very politicians on both sides of the border who could fix it.
Diplomatic pressures and incentives in trade deals as well as demands in foreign aid agreements could help preserve the extended Mexican family, especially as found in the Mestizo class in Northern Mexico, which is a model for all of the Americas.
