It seems the mass murderer in Florida did not use magazines of a capacity over 10 rounds. This presents a minor difficulty for those who want to ban magazines over 10 rounds.
The “weapon and bullets were not high quality and were breaking apart,” one of the legislators, state Sen. Lauren Book, D-Plantation, told the Herald.
Cruz went in with only 10-round magazines because larger clips would not fit in his duffel bag, Book said.
Given the general ignorance of reporters on firearms technology, and of Democrats in general, I would not rely on this information until we have corroboration. Democrat Representative Lauren Book seems to have experience with child abuse and anorexia (she has written two books).
The only expertise she has exhibited about firearms is that she sponsored a bill to punish parents if a minor obtained a firearm that was not locked up. The bill would have applied the same rules to BB guns or air guns.
We should know soon if only 10 round magazines were used. The use of 10 round magazines undercuts the drive to outlaw magazines of higher capacity.
Debaters are always able to manufacture hypothetical situations that support their position. Marco Rubio is supposed to have said that the use of 10 round magazines supported the need to ban magazines that hold more rounds.
The reason? Because the mass murder would have been even worse with magazines with greater capacity! From time.com:

Things must have been pretty tight in that duffel bag. My guess is it was full of a large ANTIFA flag, a pile of iPhones and gluten-free cookies.
Also, “breaking apart”. This should drive home the need for quality guns and ammo. I know .380 has a tendency to “break apart” but what is the ammo doing ?
Obviously we need to go to 4 1/2 round magazines.

Ruger makes a 1-round magazine for the 10/22 (seriously).
No. He was using a frangible firearm, similar to a LEGO firearm.

Why would anyone want a 1 shot magazine. I have over twenty 30 round magazines and a couple of 50 round drum mags.

10 round magazines? You mean he didn’t use those scary “rapid fire magazines” that DWS was talking about? And Debbie was always the one that I looked to for my AR-15 education. I am so disillusioned. /s

I recently learned I could purchase 30 rd mags by the case. Never saw the need until recently; they deliver right to my door.

How true. In 1968, Bobby Kennedy was murdered by a Palestinian immigrant using an American made hand gun. The news media immediately began screaming for a ban on small foreign made handguns and 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles.
When the smoke cleared and the 1968 GCL passed, the news media was so thrilled, they failed to notice that the same handgun was still being made in the USA!
But Who cares! THE GOT A GUN LAW PASSED!
It was found that their hatred for the 5 shot bolt action rifle was not because John Kennedy was killed with one, they wanted army surplus rifles stopped years before that, but a desire of Emanuel Cellar to protect Remington, Winchester and Savage from cheap imports.
I wonder if little Andy knows that a NY Safe Act compliant gun was used.
I used to have a pith helmet. Hated the way it thmelled.
I got mine at a gun show a few years ago. Back then .22LR ammo was low priced compared to now.
