Careers are becoming more specialized than ever, and with this, we as a species are losing the ability to operate and live effectively without the support structures of the existing status quo. This is a loss of independence that is only going to get worse, and the only answer, is as ever, education. But not the pleasant indoctrination being enforced by our regular schools.
Skills training is almost frowned upon nowadays, and even when it is not, it is specialized skills that are valued. How many of us can handle basic household electrical repairs? What about plumbing, carpentry, and even farming? More importantly, how many of us can do all of these things?

I can!, I am 58 and we learned ALL of this in Junior High School

Me. Nearing 60 YO. Had to do a lot of that stuff around the house when I as a teen and Boy Scouts (pre-butthump) taught me a LOT about survival incuding growing and hunting.
I suspect almost all Millennials (certainly the urban/suburban) and many Gen-Xers are represented by that kid on the commercial who asks “is this a lug wrench?”
I hate articles that present a problem and no realistic solution.
The made up EMP "threat" is about as real as global warming.

Well for some things. But what is basic these days? At 15-16 I was changing out transmissions and engines in cars. Today you have to have a computer degree! Everything is no complicated and complex thanks to Nanny Government.
Remember our history when Ford came up with the assembly line? Price of cars went down big time. What about the freedom an affordable car gave us all. Can’t wait for us all to move in driverless ones. Purchasing one will be unnecessary. Think Uber x ? Think even more freedom to get things done. Get rid of garages. Turn them into man caves.
So is uber going to haul my boat to the lake?
You need to develop a skills portfolio that is just as diversified as any good financial portfolio.
VGDSA! as me old DI used to say!
KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid!
Simplicity & Continuity!
Any idiot can get that!
Grok It? ~ THAT’S ANOTHER THING ENTIRELY!

Is Stormy Daniels a “specialist”?
More than a few of the bigger houses in my area have their garages stuffed full of boxes.
My garage has one car and the other side with stuff being sorted from the old house. One day, I hope to park there.

220. 221. Whatever it takes...
Maybe ...
And maybe it identifies as a lug-wrench. Who are you to deny its inherent lug-wrenchness ...?
Until it is decided that those vehicles won’t service you unless you have the correct views and live where someone decides you should.

All that, and cooking, too. People I know who are younger than me? They know bupkis, and look down their long aquiline noses at such skills. Why else would they support unfettered illegal immigration? Gotta have inferiors to do the manual labor. Thanks davikkm.
