That's because the dem party has moved back to the party of "progressives," hearkening back to the time of Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson.

The term "progressive" is misleading, as the only thing that progresses is the power and control of government over individual rights.

Many of the dem leadership is at the very least "progressive," but far too many have views and policies that are outright Stalinist.

And please note that “progressive” has multiple meanings.

The definition such socialists actually intend is “gradual”, not “advancing”. But conveniently, people most think of “advancing” so such a double entendre is totally to their advantage. Meanwhile, they gradually change so no one really cares.

I’ve had many similar experiences to this mostly due to simply not being shy. What made this case so unusual is that the lady I was speaking was even less shy than me... now that’s unusual!
