Thieves don’t innovate.

They may imitate but, the don’t innovate...

I can see the dramatic change since I have been watching Kdramas since 20007. They are incredibly first world, except, I think, they still have to throw their toilet paper in the waste basket because they haven’t figured out modern plumbing:)

Another factor is how successful Korean immigrants are. The ones I’ve been acquainted with seem to assimilate, speak better English than many natives, and find things they’re real good at. I also look at Hyundai and KIA. They redefined the small car market, filling a need for smaller and less expensive cars that people can depend on.

South Korea or United Korea? ... 🌹 the latter is going to be the one to watch. South Korea is only operating on one half of its potential, just wait till the North is unleashed.

As a half-Korean, I agree.

Very possible. I worked with a bunch of Chinese once. They were well educated and motivated. Happy people, too.

As we turn education into participation trophies and liberal indoctrination centers, China is busy educating their people.

“Thieves don’t innovate.”

Neither do ignorant and uneducated people, like so much of the US now.

I agree with everything you have observed. They build their christian churches where ever they move, which strenghen Christ’s ministry in the US . They are a magnificent addition to the American melting pot. Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper is half, for instance. And I love my Kia Amante. People always remark what a pretty car it is.

Next party at my house is going to feature Korean food and the guests gifts are t-shirts with Korean sayings, like, “Otoke!” I am trying to invent games which reflect Korean culture. I was thinking of us doing soju shots in a tent and having us carried piggy back by our husbands.

Except I don’t agree with preface. Illegal immigration is bad but even the Soviet Union was at its height in a spectrum of fields from athletics to science when it was an amalgam of disparate and diverse regions and peoples.

Games that reflect Korean culture...hmm.. How about Flying Side Kicks followed by a series of Tornado round house kicks?

:)

I thought of that. What kdrama or movie do you recommend that I watch for good examples? And who is a Korean actor or actress who has exemplary style. ( Can’t get to a martial arts studio to watch and learn.)

There are some very good Korean historical dramas ou there on film.

1. Title: 71 - Into the Flame - Korean War (True Story!)
71 Korean high school ROTC cadets do an Alamo holding back the NORKs on the Pusan parameter. Great film!

2. The Warrior - (Historical Fiction!) set in the period when Mongol Rule in China and control of the tributary states such as Korea is collapsing. The film has a archer that would put LOTR Legolas to shame!

3. Roaring Currents -The Admiral: True story about the Battle of Myeongnyang which took place in 1597. After being disgraced and demoted Yi Sun-sin (Min-sik Choi) is reinstated to Admiral and commands the last 12 ships of the Joseon (Korean Kingdom!) Navy in a battle against the invading Japanese forces and their fleet of 330. He wins possible the greatest naval victory of all time! An interesting historical twist, the Korean ships were ironclads. The first use of ironclads in battle was not the Monitor & the Merrimac!

There’s three all great films !

Do not forget Portugal used to be one of the main epicenters of world trade and monetary power. That country still exists on the map, but mostly as an afterthought for tourists.

And their soccer players.

I just love political and economic crystal balls, because you don’t really need to know the future, in fact you can’t; you just need to know only what facts are available today, and pretend no kind of changes could possibly alter the importance of any present facts. /sarc

Oh, most prior crytsal balls on economics and politics have, when looking a decade or mroe ahead, have been wrong. Why? Events that were not predicted altered the importance of earlier facts and added new facts that altered priorities.

How many such crystal balls predicted “peak oil”?

The Soviet Union was an amalgam of disparate and diverse regions and peoples

Which works just fine. They developed strengths within their cultures, and their expertise contributed to the nation as a whole. But they didn't have "Affirmative Action" deciding that some losers are winners and some winners will be replaced by less capable people.

Asians don’t innovate. They improve on what we invent.

Make no mistake, the Soviet Union was very Russo-centric. Stalin, went against the original wishes of Lenin and Trotsky, and Russified the Soviet Union, making Russian mandatory for everyone, and giving priority to ethnic Russians.
