President Donald Trump sought to cast blame Friday for the cancellation of his planned military parade on Washington city council officials, saying they had inflated the cost.
Soon after the President tweeted, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser claimed she "got thru" to Trump about costs for the parade, which at one point was calculated to run about $12 million but more recent estimates said could run as high as $92 million by the time Trump canceled the event.
"The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. (poorly) know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it," Trump tweeted Friday morning.
The President said he will instead "attend the big parade already scheduled at Andrews Air Force Base on a different date, (and) go to the Paris parade, celebrating the end of the War, on November 11th."
He added, "Maybe we will do something next year in D.C. when the cost comes WAY DOWN. Now we can buy some more jet fighters!"(continued)

Go ahead, poke the bear.
The US has held military parades before. This is what they looked like
Why does it have to be in D.C.? Have it in Deplorable Country. We would love it and the turnout would be great.
If you get a lump in your throat and a visceral feeling of Pride in your Country the moment the Star Spangled Banner is playing while looking up to see a missing man formation of Air Force Jet Fighters do a flyover you aren’t a Liberal.
If the same situation gives you a sense of disgust, you are.
Iiiiiiii love a parade. The stamping of feet, the feel of the beat. I love every sound..,
Really wasn’t that great of an idea anyway.
Leave it cancelled...
The DC mayor is PO’d because he is out 22 million dollars which is probably better spent elsewhere.
Yep. Somewhere in the Midwest would be great!
Exactly. Bring it here to Rome, NY, and have it at Griffiss where the President landed this past Monday. There's even a National Historic Site, Revolutionary Fort Stanwix, which in on the main street here. And Oriskany battlefield is just down the road. This area isn't rich by any means. Mario Cuomo drove all the business from here. Used to be the home of Revere Manufacturing. Paul Revere still rides each night on the large electric display outside the old factory.
Next year have a big parade at a reasonable cost in a RED state that already has a big military presence, and bring millions of dollars into the local economy from visitors. Screw you, D.C.!
What did I miss?
Why are so many people wrapped around the axle over this proposed parade?
Red’s Commie. Although it might be fun to hold it in one just to piss them off.
Democrats hate displays of patriotism (unless it’s Communist).
I’m pretty sure that a jet fighter costs more than $92 million.
If Mr. Obama had asked for the same thing it’d be the best idea in decades and local politicians would’ve fallen all over themselves to get it done as cheaply as possible so as not to embarrass him.
I doubt you can buy an intermediate turboprop trainer for that much.
Another Focking grubment’Rat ...
