If Janice the Elder God rest her soul were still with us we would have been schooled on this 4chan phenomenon months ago. Gamers were the first to note the birth of the NPC meme, understand and advance the reference. As it is now running the internet - and I note some of you have posted some of the funnier memes here for our enjoyment - it is time we school ourselves thoroughly.
In a nutshell NPC stands for non-player character as in a video game. They serve as bots, programed with algorithms to provide canned responses in given situations in order to retain the real players attention and keep the game going. That programmed-response NPCs have come to represent leftists was inevitable, and hence the basis for the meme.
What Is the NPC Meme? Liberals Rage at Cartoons Mocking Their Scripted Thoughts
The new "NPC" meme mocks leftists by depicting them as unthinking and reflexive automatons. The meme has upset the left so much that Twitter is now banning people posting it for "dehumanizing speech," but its humble origins are the computer-controlled characters of limited intelligence found in most video games.
The popular NPC meme trend frames its targets as non-player characters (NPCs) who reflexively spout neo-Marxist axioms in response to real-world events. Actual NPCs are computer-controlled characters in video games with limited scripted responses given the parameters of the games in which they appear. For example, NPCs may assign quests to the player in games like Skyrim, or join the player as a companion in Fallout.
Built on the long-running Wojak meme, the NPC meme mocks leftists as expressionless in appearance and bot-like in behavior. The universal standard appearance illustrates the left's political homogeneity.
Red State has an even more detailed explanation here, summing up thusly:
While Im in full belief that even SJWs have the capacity for rational and critical thought, the fact that they choose not to employ it, even in the face of brutal facts, earns them the label of NPC. If your entire identity revolves around the superficial, and your entire belief system revolves around instructions from someone else, then youre about as good as a computer program. If you wont engage in civil debate, and instead scream tired phrases at people when you run out of things to say, then theres no person there, just a shell that somebody else is speaking through.
NPCs are often represented as cartoon faces with programming symbols for features:
The meme has garnered a lot of attention recently as Twitter has banned hundreds of right wing accounts posing as soulless, nonplayable liberal activists (SJWs). From the NYT:
As an aside, MOTUS herself got thrown off Facebook years ago for not being a real person whereupon I embarked on a hilarious online argument with the nameless, faceless goons who control FB.
But I digress, apparently Twitter is busily developing a new policy aimed at NPC triggering:
Zero Hedge has an amusing take on the new steps being taken to contain the insults.
The NPC meme essentially meant to ridicule the post-election perpetual outrage culture in which liberals simply parrot the latest talking points from their favorite pundits, who do their thinking for them.
The 4chan version is a simple greyed out, expressionless face known as "NPC Wojak" - which has triggered the left so hard that Twitter conducted a mass-banning campaign for accounts promoting the meme, and the New York Times wrote an entire article trying to figure it out.
Anything that bores so far under the lefts skin clearly deserves to be applauded and spread far and wide, so give it your best shot people. Halloween is quickly approaching and the NPC-Che costumes are selling out fast.
Back View:
Lets make this not just the meme of the week, month, or year this one deserves meme of the decade designation.

If everybody is special then nobody is special..................

Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals:
5. Ridicule is mans most potent weapon. There is no defense. Its irrational. Its infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
Alinskys The Rules for Radicals:
1. Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have. Power is derived from 2 main sources money and people. Have-Nots must build power from flesh and blood.
2. Never go outside the expertise of your people. It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.
3. Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy. Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.
4. Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
5. Ridicule is mans most potent weapon. There is no defense. Its irrational. Its infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
6. A good tactic is one your people enjoy. Theyll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. Theyre doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.
7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag. Dont become old news.
8. Keep the pressure on. Never let up. Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself. Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.
10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.
11. If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive. Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.
12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Never let the enemy score points because youre caught without a solution to the problem.
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster
We gamers are enjoying the crap out of this. Just hilarious.
And theyre all above average.
Because they are all from Lake Woebegone.
The memes are fun, but the accounts with the NPC on Twit are downright roller coaster ride fun. What they do is set up an NPC account and fill the account description with leftist terms and phrases. Then they go out and post waaaay over the top leftist narratives on Twit threads. They’re getting banned left and right, but it sure is fun while they last. Orange man bad!
I would contend that lefties have two modes: NPC, and unhinged.
NPC is standard operating system mode.
When you take them out of their comfortable set of parameters, they fall back on their human instincts, and they are the worst ones; Like babies when you take their rattle away. I have already seen some of the NPC memes include short circuiting NPCs, so I’m not suggesting a new meme here. the NPC meme actually fits right in the other crap we see beyond the corporate PC culture and canned speeches you get with censorship. The other side of the coin is wigged out frenzied nuts who can’t handle losing control of political correctness. They actually think that because they fear loss of control, that spreading chaos will get attention
There's a glaring hole in Alinsky's rules.
PDJT also sees this hole and exploits it daily much to the chagrin of his political opponents.
It all gets back to what I've been saying all along. These politicians, bureaucrats & academics think they're the smartest people in the room.
They aren't and they prove it daily.
“We gamers are enjoying the crap out of this. Just hilarious.”
I started my WOW account back up just to have fun with the NPC’s.
EVERYONE IS UNIQUE! JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!
Is that a MOB of NPCs?
It really is the perfect descriptor for libtards.
Completely Interchangeable, replaceable, hive-mentality Borg rage machines, programmed to think and respond predictably, equipped with the special trigger-word microchip.
My, my, my.... how special our little Snowflakes have become. Good Little Comrades.
Next thing you know, they’ll all be wearing Mao jackets and have that same GREAT haircut Mao had.
Following ol’ “Saul’s Rules” is what MAKES you an NPC.
I could do with a lot less posting of “Saul”, around here. Let the Dummies on the Left lap at the feet of this goon.
The Right should always be trying to Wake the Left, and that isn’t done with any of these asshat “rules”.
They are called ‘Rules for Radicals’, not ‘Rules for Leftist Radicals’. They work for both sides.
When the Left become the entrenched powers-that-be, the Right will be the ‘radicals’.
As one Leftist wrote in a comment section of a newspaper article about the Right fighting back, “OMG! THEY HAVE DISCOVERED ALINSKY’S RULES! WHAT WILL WE DO NOW???????”.... ..................
I’m not a gamer and I’m loving it! It really is genius.
