See what happens when you violate the rights of the people? This is only the beginning and I hope the family of this man sues the pants off the police and the state for their lawless behavior. A Ferndale, Maryland man was shot and killed at home when two Anne Arundel County police officers who were violating their oath and this man’s Fifth Amendment rights by attempting to steal his property (guns) under Maryland’s unconstitutional “red flag” “laws.”

The Baltimore Sun reports:

The man, whose name was not released, answered his door in the 100 block of Linwood Ave. at 5:17 a.m. with a gun in his hand, said Sgt. Jacklyn Davis, an Anne Arundel County Police spokeswoman.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

Angry neighbors and mean family members making false allegations to Child Protective Services is a known problem.

False allegations of spousal abuse and child abuse are common during divorce. False allegations of child sexual abuse are a tactic by some to totally remove the father from the child’s life so as to alienate the child.

Given the KNOWN regular abuse of these “believe the accuser, deny them their rights and assume guilt” in both of these systems, we know that there are angry neighbors and divorcing partners who will LIE about the person to have their guns taken away.

Indiana was one of the first to have this type of law.
In Indiana, however, any complainant must swear UNDER OATH before a judge before any process can begin.

I live in the People’s Republic of Maryland and am subject to these laws. If any “friend” or relative subjected me to one of these red flag raids, I would peacefully surrender all firearms in my home and all firearms that can through records be identified as belonging to me. I would then permanently cut that person out of my life as soon as I lawfully reacquired my own property, faking civility until the legal crisis passed. Would I divorce over such an attack? Despite an otherwise completely happy marriage, yes - immediately - if my wife took that step.

As for the loss of this man’s life, I find it sad. He made bad decisions when faced by the police, and his friends/relatives made even worse decisions.

"What are the details of why they came to his house?" This was on another article about the incident: "She said one of her aunts requested the protective order to temporarily remove Willis' guns." https://www.carrollcountytimes.com/news/state/bs-md-aa-shooting-20181105-story.html Another example of never call the police on a family member. They show up with guns, not psychology manuals. I guess the aunt got her wish; they will definitely remove his guns now.

Yeah, the Red Flag law is bad but geeezzz ... you answer a door with a gun in your hand when the police are the ones that are knocking?

Who in their right mind would do that? Maybe the Red Flag was needed in this case.

Never mind that the complainant may be the one who is certifiably crazy....

One relative imagines all sorts of impossible scenarios in day to day matters and is clinically paranoid.

She knows we have a pellet gun for rabbits, but we try to avoid discussing firearms in front of her.

She's called the FBI for unbelievable reasons, so I'm not too keen on Red Flag laws.

Don't be an ass. You certainly can have a gun in your possession in your own home. And I know places in Maryland where you had better have one.

This law and ones like it make criminals out of otherwise good people minding their own business, and in this case DEAD citizens out of people minding their own business.

That is sensible. If possible they should be sued into oblivion.

I can see authorities and activists ginning up confiscations based on lies to get people’s guns and you can bet they will be molasses slow returning them if they ever do.
