Colombia’s Cano Limon crude oil pipeline that can transport 210,000 bpd of crude has been bombed again, for the 78th time since the start of this year, Ecopetrol, the state oil company, said, as quoted by Reuters. Previous attacks have been blamed by the Colombian army on a rebel group, the national Liberation Army, or ELN, which is considered a terrorist group by the European Union and the United States.

The pipeline was not operational at the time of the attack, which is the second in as many months. In September, Reuters reported that the pipeline was bombed again in the same region, close to the border with Venezuela. At the time, the pipeline was shut down so the attack did not cause a lot of damage. In fact, the pipeline was shut down six months earlier precisely because of the repeated attacks.

I still remember such attacks in that area back in the early 1960s. So many you would think the ground would be soaked in oil by now.

LOL. Reminds me of a 55 year old cartoon showing a rioting stone throwing group outside a South American embassy. All the windows are being broken out. The rioters get their rocks from a Jose’s Window Repair Service truck.

The first half of the article referred to the actors as "a terrorist group". One had to read the entire article to learn it is a Marxist group:

The ELN, a Marxist organization, bombs oil infrastructure in protest of the presence of multinational companies in Colombia’s natural resources industry claiming it robs the locals of the benefits this sector offers.

There is a reason, of course, that the locals are not benefitting from the entire value of its oil.
