Woke up this morning to find out that Firefox just disabled Dissenter along with a few other web-add-ons in my browser...
for "Security" reasons...
Isn't it always the same... they Sacrifice OUR RIGHT to free speech using the excuse of an Security Update...
No no ,Firefox is gone insane and turned off all Add-ons ,LOL, it’s a glitch they say and are fixing it . but it is amazing what Firefox can do to you anything it feels like
What is Dissenter?
Firefox DID change their rules last week to say they can and will ban any extension they deem harmful to the internet. Now that used to mean viruses and malware but you know what that means now.
This was just an accident thats exposed how much control they have over your free and open internet browser.
Gab is working on it own version of the “Brave” browser that will have Dissenter built in.
“Muh private corporation!”
A browser plug in that would allow you and other users to comment on any webpage. Developed by the Gab makers it allowed open commenting on leftist sites.
Firefox allegedly banned it for sending back private information and not because it was conservative supported.
Reddit has some Firefox posts ,over 1200 now ,LOL
First, they’ll remove the 1st, on way to the 2nd. And Viscy conservatives applaud.
I noticed even my antivirus add-on was not working in Firefart this morning, along with lots of other things I have for blocking ads and malware.
I am trying new browsers today, even though I have other things I should be doing.
Is that why they banned Facebook, too? lol
Just noticed a few minutes ago my adblock and ghostery add ons have been disabled.
I’m using an older version of firefox.
I have Opera and Chromium always ready as a backup ,LOL
They’ve fixed their innocently stupid mistake. The fix is automatic if you have “studies” allowed under “privacy and security”. You can disable “studies” after the fix takes effect.
Thank you. I allowed “studies”, restarted and everything is back.
I’m still pissed though.
On Mac so I went to preferences>privacy and security. I looked up and down the page. Where is “studies”?
Vichy.
I gave up updating Firefox a long time ago, primarily because of numerous extensions/add-ons not working with new releases.
I am currently at FF ESR 52.4.
It will keep it, like Win7, until they quit working.
Nevermind, I found it. Studies is a sub-topic under “Firefox Data Collection and Use”.
