The Kentucky Governor's Election is actually a YUGE win for Republicans and Trump
My fertile mind | 28 June 2019 | Fightin Kentuckian

There is a silver lining to the Kentucky Governer's election results that should scare the hell out of dimocrats and give new hope to Bluegrass Republicans. 1. Bevin had a bad case of foot in mouth disease. However, he wasn't any worse than any other non-politician. What made it so bad was the fact that ALL major TV and news papers in the Commonwealth are virulently liberal. When Bevin did good things the media would turn it around and trash him. When he slipped up they made seem like he was the second coming of Hitler, and then they plain made up stuff about him. Overcoming massive media bias in an entire state is a difficult task. 2. Two months ago USA Today called Bevin the most unpopular gov. in America with 30% approval. With that in mind it's amazing that the election is too close to call. 3. The Rest of the Republicans on the ballot won easily. 4. Beshear, had several major advantages. firstly, the media was on his side and propped him up and attacked Bevin mercilessly, secondly, Beshear used his office to attack Bevin at every opportunity and he began right after Bevin was elected and took him to court on every issue, although Bevin won most of those court challenges. lastly, Beshears daddy was a two term gov whom the media loved and still do considering that he ransacked the people of Kentucky. With all of this in mind, the election should have been a walk away for Beshear but it was too close to call (I suspect dimocrat shenanigans in Fayette and Jefferson Co). that this election was too close to call proves that Trump has a very strong following and broad support in the Bluegrass state and Republicans in the state legislature need to realize this and deal with dimocrats from a position of strength. Kentucky will re-elect Trump in 2020 and if we can find a decent candidate we can take the Governor's Office next time around. And the other silver lining from last night is the #2 UK Wildcats whupped up on #1 Michigan State 69-62 in Madison Square Garden. Woohoo, GO BIG BLUE!

Let’s not pretend that a defeat is a win.

Yep. If I bet on a long-shot horse to win, and it comes in a close second, I still lost. No money for me at all.

“Let’s not pretend that a defeat is a win”. No pretending here. I’m saying we would have won if the playing field were level but it wasn’t and the fact that Bevin got as many votes has he did considering how uneven the field was shows that IF it were level we would win in a walk every time. And Republicans not only need to vote but we need to be more active in the media, more active in leveling the playing field and making an impact in the propaganda war.

So by this logic, then Michigan State actually won?

Nope, they had a level playing field. The refs were OK however the first half was slow because of all of the fouls called. And UK played great defense and had a stellar game from Maxey.

The silver lining is a sports team beat another sports team, that really affects our lives, important stuff.

NOT what he said newbie. I respect his analysis. He’s right on the mark.

ALL major TV and news papers in the Commonwealth are virulently liberal.

That can't be an excuse. It's like that in almost every state and nationally too.

We can't loose just because the media is against us, or else we will loose all elections.

Even though they played sloppily and didn’t have one of their best scorers (Langford-bum foot) available, the Spartans stayed in the game. It won’t surprise me if these two teams meet again in the NCAA Tournament. Gotta give Kentucky’s freshman Tyrese Maxey a lot of credit. He was almost unstoppable beyond the 3 pt. arc.

This is one of those things that people from other states find difficult to comprehend but yes, it is very “important stuff” to Kentucky Wildcat fans. The Cats are a huge part of Commonwealth identity and pride.

The Libertarians turned on Bevin, cutting off their Nose to spite their Face.

If Bevin does end up losing, still too close to call, the Libertarians will suffer along with everyone else with the Rat Nutcase Governor.

Of course, the Rat Governor will be all by himself. The GOP ran the table down Ballot.

Everyone who put their Eggs in the Bevin Basket, who was called the most unpopular Governor in the Nation long before the Election, has to realize he was toast before POTUS Trump showed up and got him up nearly twenty points.

Was it enough? Well, we’ll find out if Bevin holds tight and doesn’t give up without a fight.

We pulled out a win despite Bevin’s shortcomings. He didn’t pull the rest of the Ticket down with him.

I respectfully disagree, but it certainly can be and is a very valid excuse that the media in Kentucky is very liberal. Most pollsters will agree that kind of an advantage can count for 5-10 percentage points. In this case the vote is so close that a biased media certainly can be blamed. And as I said before, Republicans need to be active in not only voting but active on the propaganda front to help turn media in a different direction.

Extremely poor candidate with a horrific popularity number who was to stupid to step aside and allow a more personable candidate take the helm. Yes it was a win in the since that it should have been a slam dunk for the DimocRATS but it wasn’t. We had the same scenario happen in a senate race a few years back. Akin was the next in line and he muscled his way to the top spot. His foot in mouth disease was masterfully played by Old Fat A$$ Clairebabe who at the time was all but washed up. What should have been a landslide turned into a safe seat. Always remember if the DimocRATS can get the numbers close they can find the exact amount needed in the trunk of an abandoned car.

Also, one little-acknowledged historical fact: Since 1900, there have been 28 different governors of Kentucky. Only seven have been Republican; the other 21 were Democrats. Since the beginning of the Civil War, there have been a total of 41 elected governors: an additional 11 were Democrats; only an additional two were Republicans. With rare exceptions, all but a few were one-termers. That’s an almost 4:1 skew Democratic for 170 years. Democrats have pretty well maintained a chokehold on the governor’s mansion since 1859. Couple that with Bevin’s unpopularity, a paper-thin vote margin, and the down-ballot results, this isn’t the bellwhether political thrashing the media is making it out to be. Rather, it’s likely causing heart palpitations to some on the Left. Virginia has been doomed to go blue since Clinton was in office. I lived just outside the Beltway for fifteen years, some of it in VA, and could see it coming in so many different aspects. A lot of VA is still red country, but NoVA, thanks to almost unbridled government expansion and immigration, has been turning bluer and bluer since the 90’s.
