Posted on 04/06/2020 8:30:56 PM PDT by usafa92
My first vanity is quite awhile. Lets assume that in the coming 2-3 weeks, Trump gives the all clear that its time to get back to work. We already have several governors just looking for any reason to keep things closed. Inslee in WA just shut the schools down for the rest of year. Murphy in NJ is talking well into May before he opens things up. Cuomo will probably be a bit more flexible in NY but not much. Northam has VA closed until June. Wolf has PA closed indefinitely. DeWine has Ohio until May.
Point is, Trump can give the all clear but the governors can choose to keep their lockdowns continuing to hurt the economy. In an ironic way, its the states rights argument that conservatives have always championed. Of course, Democrats corrupt it for their own purposes. So, thoughts on how this opens back up uniformly and quickly to get the economy rolling again.
Good question. I’m more afraid of Comrade Governors and Comrade Mayors than I am of the virus. Cuomo and de Blasio will be very stubborn to give up the dictatorial powers.
I look forward to coming back here and seeing responses.
Id hope that as governors see their states economies tank theyll let people work but I dont know, that would be rational and Im not seeing a lot of rational.
“My first vanity is quite awhile.”
Once we are given the all-clear the politics at the state level will take care of itself.....
As states begin to open back up for business the pressure on other governors will be overwhelming to open up.
Trump doesn’t need too and it doesn’t need to be uniform.
The citizens of each state will get fractious with stupid governors and their will be widespread ignoring of governor’s orders at the county level if they keep the stupid going.
The more the governor’s piss off their citizenry, the more likely that state will flip to Trump. Wait for it.
Ongoing Federal Grants to States that go back to work.
He doesnt .
The people of the State will reopen the State.
I think the best way is that when Republican States open up, pressure will build -very- fast on the Dem states. Very quickly it will become unbearable.
States will go bankrupt if they close for too long. They will have no revenue while expenses are skyrocketing. They can’t print money.
Dont give them any money. They are already begging after four weeks. If they want to starve the people in their States, then they will have to deal with it.
He shouldn’t, other than by praising those who open things back up and blocking all further bail outs for those who do not.
Instead he should focus on bringing pharmaceutical manufacturing back to the United states, and replacing the FDA and CDC with functional agencies that actually get the job done right.
Freedom will out. Just do it.
The people will take care of it. You can’t arrest everybody.
China will no doubt release another virus.
The residents of the states will decide when they this ends, regardless of decrees from Governors.
The governors of Pennsylvania and Ohio are case studies in executive stupidity.
If they do that, they’re all blue states anyway. It has way more potential to help him than hurt him. He can even point out that they be better off in a free state (or replaceming theirs with a freedom-based state government). If that doesn’t resonates them, no loss anyway.
