’No one went for a knockout blow’: Inside Bernie’s campaign nosedive

**SNIP**

The stakes were high: In an email to senior staff, Tulchin said that moderate voters were beginning to unify behind Biden and that the consolidation would intensify if he won South Carolina, according to people familiar with the message.

But on the stage that night, Sanders didn’t take his aides’ advice. Instead, he largely gave Biden a pass, bashed Bloomberg sometimes - but not over stop-and-frisk - and mostly stuck to his standard talking points. It wasn’t the first nor the last time Sanders eschewed his staffers’ suggestions to be more aggressive with his top rival. Their warnings proved prescient: Biden went on to sweep the day in South Carolina, unify moderates, and then carry Super Tuesday.

“Knocking out Biden was job No. 1. And even when he was down, no one went for a knockout blow,” said a top aide. “That was the problem.”

Sanders’ unwillingness to go for Biden’s jugular is just one of the decisions campaign aides are wrestling with since he exited the primary Wednesday. Despite being the best fundraiser in the Democratic field, having near universal name ID, and leading a massive volunteer army, Sanders performed worse in many ways in 2020 than in 2016. He badly lost among African-Americans yet again, and the rural and working-class white voters who were with him four years ago abandoned him.

Take away his pudding. Watch what happens.

I think Bernie is playing for the screwed-up convention, and the alternate candidate route....suggesting he has to be paid by the Party to just accept this ridiculous idea of replacing Joe Biden.

I disagree, and the major point in this article reinforces this.

Bernie was never serious about winning the Democratic nomination. He never hammered Biden on anything — like his Ukrainian corruption, for example. This was be exact same approach he took with Hillary Clinton in 2016, when he fell all over himself making excuses for her corruption.

This is why U.S. Senators are awful presidential candidates. They can’t attack rivals after making deals with them in their Beltway country club for years.

Bernie is a lazy lightweight. Not surprised he quit on himself. The bum never had a job until he was over 40.

exactly, Bernie never really wanted to win, otherwise he would have been tougher in Clinton, Biden and Pocahontas.

What’s funny is watching the Bernie Bros meltdown because some of them are starting to realize they backed a loser, who never wanted to win....they were madly in love with someone who cheated on them....a bitter pill to swallow.

The only thing Bernie could successfully run was his mouth.

If he won, he might actually have had to work for a living.

Could you imagine a President Bernie negotiating against with the Chinese? They would just have to buy Bernie a new vacation home and would sell out the nation.

Sanders’ unwillingness to go for Biden’s jugular>>>>>>>>>

Somewhere in Europe, there is a numbered account with a large SOROS transfer of USD for Bernie’s benefit.

People said of Bernie when he was younger (back in Burlington) that he was a BIG talker, but never did any actual work.

At some socialist event, everyone else would be rolling up their sleeves and doing what had to be done.

But not Bernie.

Bernie would be over on the edge of the action running his mouth.

As might be said of Bernie, he's a talker, not a doer. A lover (of communism) not a fighter.

Bernie's not a lion...he's the thorn in the lion's paw.

RE: wants more capitalist goods and $$

That’s what all socialists want. Thankfully, he doesn’t want to work that hard, or else he would be more insatiable for power like many we know.

Look out for AOC in the wings.

Bernie’s like a bizarro Romney. Romney would only go after people in his own party. Sanders will only go after Republicans. Being willing to go scorched earth on Republicans won Romney the GOP nomination. But holding back against Obama lost Romney the presidency. Whereas Sanders being unwilling to go scorched earth on Hillary, then Biden, cost him the nomination both times.

Maybe it’s virtue-signalling - as in he couldn’t live with himself if he won the nomination by slinging mud at other Democrats. Maybe it’s a fear that he’ll be persona non grata in Democratic circles if he wins the nomination by slinging mud and loses in the general. Whatever the reason, he lacked the killer instinct to grab the brass ring. Even at 78. Carpe diem would appear to be the opposite of Sanders’s motto.

Bernie’s mistake was listening to Twitter and acting on the “He too white” meme.

If Bernie Sanders wasn’t about whites, he was about nothing.

Bernie played the role of the Washington Generals. Losing was a foregone conclusion. Hell, he isn’t even a Democrat. He has made lots of money from the campaign, moved the Party further to the Left, and fed his enormous ego. AOC will takeover “The Movement” and eventually transform the party to being overtly socialist. It will be called the Democratic Socialist Party of America. The DSPA.

Bernie ever wanted to be the nominee. He wants to push the party as far left as possible. Not be president. His groupies are too stupid to realize this obvious reality.

Not a single word was said by anyone in the clown car about Biden being the most corrupt candidate (other than both Clintons) in the history of presidential politics.

This is all malarkey. Sanders is a one trick pony. He has spent all of his seven decades with a single message: “Socialism is grand, free stuff for all”! His message is polished and he speaks it with conviction. He knows no other message. It works well on the ignorant, and there are millions of them, products of a lifetime of communist teachers unions and professors. It works not at all on thinking individuals.

Sanders has no other message. He simply had no capacity to change it to defeat Biden. He doesn’t know any better.
