A PhD degree does not allow one to call oneself a Dr., except on the day the PhD is awarded.
But, then, I guess tradition and truth no longer matter?
What is it about progressive liberal art PhDs that makes them so pretentious? Insecurity? Or is it their “I’m smarter and better than you - na na na”? I’ve met PhDs who did not feel compelled to constantly put “Dr” in front of their names outside of the academic environment.
She has a doctorate in education. BFD. I worked my way through college and got a BA and have 40 years as a self employed business man. No, I haven’t made a lot of money, but I’ve always provided and I’ve done it honestly. You should try it, Jill. Don’t forget the honestly part. It’s even better for your self esteem than that “PhD” of which you never stop reminding us.
With all respect, many people with PhDs are referred to as ‘doctor’, especially in academia.
That doesn’t mean that they are qualified physicians/medical doctors - which is something that Whoopi apparently doesn’t understand.
She’s just angling for that surgeon general job Whoopi wants to give her.
