You are delusional. We’ve had about 40m jobs lost in the last two months and another 10-20m have had pay or hours cut or both. And many more are at risk. The numbers, if anything, understate how bad it is due to the last two. The revenue declines are worse than the Great Depression drops for a huge number of industries - airlines, hotels, restaurants, casinos, colleges, small businesses, etc.

The large cap stocks are holding in better for now but they will be the secondary effects and their time is coming. The risk of governments and pensions blowing here is real and if the UST market goes sidewise all bets are off. The US gov can’t afford 5% interest much less 15-20%.

And just because you aren’t that stressed from this doesn’t mean millions are not. I already know two people in their thirties that committed suicide in the last two weeks that were pushed over the edge from this

"What IS certain is that our financial system is on the verge of permanent collapse."

No, it is NOT. Read about the REAL "Great Depression", which was far more severe than this ever thought about being.

I recall that there were many studies of the catastrophic long-term health impact of the massive layoffs in the Detroit auto industry, and this will be the same only worse.

The speech I would like Trump to give (with charts) would include a balance sheet of negative health impacts that are being caused by the lockdown vs. presumed positive impacts. The balance sheet and bottom line could be clearly shown.

Beaches and parks have been closed. That is a death sentence to many people.

You are right, but there still are a lot of beaches open. Life may not be the same bowl of cherries, but if you have your health, you can tweak everything else. Don’t be greedy or arrogant. If we all keep moving forward
we’ll arrive at our goals. Patience is a life saver.

"Ok. You really believe that most of the 40M will have jobs to return to? I do not."

No, there will be MORE and BETTER jobs for them to take. Many, many American companies are going to "on-shore" from China (a process which was already on-going before this started, and which Trump had accelerated). Yes, some sectors will be damaged and will change, but the overall economy will be bigger and more vibrant than ever.

Yeah?
Is that why that post of yours is totally incorrect?
Did you get your “credentials” from Pluto or from a mail in school in China?

Perhaps you will tell us where those "more and better" jobs are at right now.

Many, many American companies are going to “on-shore”

Okay.
Do you have any idea how cell phones and other electronic gear for example are manufactured? The parts required? Supply chains?
How much a cell phone would cost if it were even possible to make them here (it's not).
Forbes and other business mags did a series of articles on that a few years back.

"Is that why that post of yours is totally incorrect?"

In "your" not-so-bright opinion. The history "I" read (and it was a lot) says otherwise. The GD (Great Depression) lasted over a decade, far more people (as a percentage of population) were out of work, far more economic damage (in inflation-adjusted dollars) was done. This "micro-Depression" is a blip by comparison. Prove me wrong!

Actually, yes. I spent my career inventing technology to do chemical analysis, and after a successful career in technology for a major chemical company, co-founded a company (still going strong) to build instrumentation for chemical analysis. I've got 28 patents and about the same number of refereed publications, two R&D 100 Awards, and one international award for tech I invented.

There are a LOT of other things that will get built in the US other than cell phones.

So tell us..how many jobs were lost in the great depression?
Over what period of time?
What was the contraction in GDP?
How many small businesses went belly up over that period? Etc
versus
How many jobs have been lost now in just TWO MONTHS?
How much has the economy contracted in just two months?
How many small businesses have been destroyed in just two months?
Etc

You have read a lot of history huh?
History about what? Fakery?

You have 28 patents and 100 awards huh? Chuckle.
Yeah..and I am Mother Theresa too. On the Internet, everyone is Bill Gates.

There are a LOT of other things that will get built in the US other than cell phones.

Like what for example?
To be clear, I used cell phones as an example. It pretty much covers a vast swath of electronics.
So why do you think Apple for example, make their iphones, ipads, macbooks etc in China or the rest of Asia.? And it's not just Apple. Almost all US tech firms make most of their products in China or elsewhere in Asia. Why do you think they do?
