CA wants the rest of us to bail out their gov slugs. I vote NO.
“Of those unemployed in the record breaking news for April, 75% are temporarily unemployed. These people expect to be back at their work soon...”
Lots of people will be out spending on things that have been postponed and that in itself will be an immediate boost!
Larger purchases will insure a longer lasting boost! :)
I’m all in for updates around my home!
Silliness. Many jobs are never coming back.
What is silly is to think that new jobs wont replace any jobs that do not come back.
I’d like to be optimistic, but I don’t see explosive growth until the all clear is sounded. Hopefully the virus will burn out this summer. There are ~50M people in the US over the age of 65. Who knows how many people below that age that have a bunch of preexisting conditions. I doubt these types of people will do high risk activities when social distancing can’t be maintained, especially in big metro areas..
As for me, I went back to work 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Started off with just businesses, but we’ve been going into people’s homes as well. Our state requires full PPE on job sites, but we have been getting people telling us that they’re okay with us not wearing it.
My boss is convinced this whole thing was utter BS, and just an excuse for Demonrats to try to take out the President and try to control people’s lives.
We’re already getting people clamoring for us. (For the record, I install window blinds, shutters, shades and such. You’d be surprised at how many people who’ve been stuck inside for a while realize “Hey, I need to do something about these windows!”)
As for spending, my wife and I have set aside some money and plan to do some spending for some furniture after the stores open back up.
Best presentation of economic impact Ive seen. A third factor could be pay reductions of those still working, like my wife, daughter, and son-in-law who all got docked 10%.
A verrrry interesting read.
Economic inflation has occurred. Velocity also affects price inflation. In the short-term velocity has decreased. If people save the money or reduce debt the price inflation impact will be reduced. If people spend money too fast hyperinflation would be a catastrophic danger.
Just checked my 401Ks and stocks. Not much of a hit at all. Looking to pick up a vacation shack from some failed AirBNBer.
The dems will be fighting the recovery with every bit of their energy.
Their hatred of both President Trump AND the people who voted for him is so great, they will watch the country burn, if only they can rule over the ashes.
Scumbad Bill Mahr put the dem philosophy into perspective, when he effectively stated he hopes that the country implodes economically, since that would help remove President Trump from office. Besides, he has his, who cares about anyone else.

Sad but true. It really does harken to that old phrase, turned into a song: You don’t know what you got ‘till it’s gone.
Kinda like how all that QE money went into the stock market?
While Trump is allowing the importing H1B Indians trash by the planeloads.
The Indian job express continues while Americans like myself go jobless and homeless.
If you lost your business which you capitalized with your life savings, but now you are bagging groceries, you are still employed!
Look, I think that life will NEVER be as good for millions.
Yes, Trump must take the blame for this insanity at this time.
We purchased a new (to us) car, a lawn mower and are in process of closing on a new home.
All done during the shutdown, as was the sale of our former property.
Also, I shopped 50 miles away for the first time in 2 1/2 months at places I used frequent every 3-4 weeks. I saw no food/cleaning supplies price inflation from early March, except for $40/gallon alcohol. (we laughed at that one)
You stick with your pessimism. Ill stick with my faith in America. Add Trumpanomics to the mix and I am looking forward to things being better than ever.
Consider all of the lost jobs that went to China. A lot will be created here again.
Not pessimism but reality. You can’t empathize with the millions of destroyed lives. Those who OD thanks to relapse, or commit suicide will not be returning to their once-great lives.
If Americans were as great as you believe, there would be millions protesting this madness.
If Americans were as great as you believe, there would be millions protesting this madness
I’m sorry but I have to agree with this. The America people have been taught to obey without thought. If they can still think. It’s all emotion now.
