Blanket Statue Removal is Not Progress
The Houston Courant ^ | June 22, 2020 | T. Corder

The nation is confused and upset and isn't sure how to respond to the horrific death of George Floyd and similar events happening across the country. One response from several progressives, ranging from national figures like Nancy Pelosi to local petitioners at Texas A&M's campus, is to get rid of statues that might make some uncomfortable.

The common thread binding these complaints together, as stated in several petitions, is the statues are racist, representing neo-Nazism and white supremacy. They argue the sculptures present a roadblock to a "more inclusive future." In the spirit of the movement, on June 9th, pro-petitioners vandalized the statue of a previous Texas Governor and President of Texas A&M University, Lawrence Sullivan "Sul" Ross. Statues are not racist, and attempts to remove them are counterproductive and do not address any current systematic racism in America. We have so much to work on – slavery still exists in the form of human trafficking.

This group's narrative applies a misguided belief that those not with them are racist, namely if they are white. Monuments are a story of America's past --- good and bad. Our country has done terrible things; nevertheless, we have achieved unparalleled freedom and opportunity, envied by the world. We cannot eternally condemn the Confederacy for slavery; rather, we have to accept our nation's mistakes on this issue and recognize the path of liberty our constitution has brought us. Our past, our wounds, and suffering is what makes us resilient and strong. Freedom and equal opportunity have been slow to reach some, but we cannot implode and “cancel” those who advanced our state and nation.

Oh, I think we're ready to move on. I mean, poor George meant ever so much to me, of course. But I'll struggle on somehow.

Let’s find their statues anywhere in the U.S. and pull them down. And we’ll do it with a backhoe or bulldozer. There’s gotta be a statue of some stinkin commie somewhere.

“The nation is confused and upset and isn’t sure how to respond to the horrific death of George Floyd and similar events happening across the country. “

More like the Marxists are using the death of George Floyd to help their revolution.

I think something that would calm the masses would be to know exactly how many people, of all races, die at the hands of the cops in similar fashion.

It suddenly becomes a non-issue. It’s a fake issue used to increase strife while Trump is president. And it’s really easy to do since everyone is on lockdown.

At the end of the day this is not about a city, a state or a country. It’s about two or three cops and a rookie, a man that was caught by the police doing something bad and thanks to being on drugs along with his heart condition, was beligerent, held down, waiting for an ambulance, and finally died.

That’s it.

Everything people are up in arms about is based on speculation only. There is not even a shred of proof that this happened to him because of his race.

Lots of frustrated people today because of the lockdown. This is as good an excuse for a purge party as anything.

So here we are...

When they have removed every statue what then?

You realize the ultimate end of the statue nonesense - and it is nonsense - is that they all come down. Every statue is offensive to someone, some group. So if we're being "fair" then they all have to come down.

But what then? The end of the statue stupidity is not the end of the leftist/fascist plans. How will the democrats keep their base fired up, how will they appease their more radical elements then? Will they start scrubbing and re-writing history books? If seeing the depiction of someone is offensive, why then certainly having to read about his/her or them must be offensive too. That certainly would be in the finest tradition of the old Soviet Union. Check out the Wikipedia article on "Censorship of images in the Soviet Union." Or look up German censorship under the Nazis or as East Germany. A lot of that sounds very familiar...

All this wanton destruction has nothing to do with Floyd. You can’t tell me that blacks were that upset about his death when they are busy shooting each other down by the dozens in Minneapolis, Chicago, Baltimore, NY, St Louis, etc.. His death was just an excuse to launch a nationwide riot whipped up by the media/dem complex in hopes of ousting Trump. Just the other day some Black Lies Matter spokesman said that the goal was to get rid of Trump now, not wait until the election. Why do you think CHOP has called on its followers to go home and vote for Biden? These rioters, looters, vandals, and arsonists are the democrats foot soldiers.

With these idiot lefties trying to remove “fascist” statues, I’m surprised they haven’t gone after the one legitimate facsist monument in the US, the Balbo Monument donated to the City of Chicago by Benito Mussolini:
