Great piece! I loved the mom tone part. Every mom and every kid knows that tone, and rarely is it crossed. I even scold my cats with that tone when they decide to fight. “Boys! Boys! That’s enough!”
While I’m commenting, I should add that when I’ve called facemasks “training burqas” in public, I get an overwhelming response from people, mostly positive though not every time. Yes, it’s a little provocative, but these days, that’s getting to be necessary. People have stopped thinking. They just follow along. Sheeple indeed. I’m trying to get more to wake up and forget this “woke” BS they keep shoving our way. I’m alive, awake, alert, and enthusi-ass-tic!
What I find interesting is the authoritarians who demand we mask up. 40 years ago they were poli sci majors who drove battered rusted out Volvos and VW Beetles held together with QUESTION AUTHORITY bumper stickers.

This. I haven't worn a mask anywhere for about 3 months. I've been to Michigan. I've been to Wisconsin. Illinois. Indiana. Kentucky. Missouri. Never worn a mask in any store or restaurant. Sometimes I'm the ONLY one without a mask. BUT like the article says if we can't stand social pressure about a stupid mask where there was ZERO social pressure just 3 months ago then we are going to fold ON anything else that comes down the pipe.

LOL You’re right about cats. They are SO trainable. Our Snuggles has learned to sit, shake, say please (”MEOW”) and wave bye-bye when sufficiently bribed with Kitty Temptations. :D And they said you can’t train cats!

It’s easy to train cats.
An example, train the cat to say speak. All you have to do is say the word ‘speak’ when the cat is meowing. Then when the cat is hungry and he/she knows you have food, you say ‘speak’. The second he/she meows you immediately put a bit of food down. The cat will learn to respond to the command speak in a day.
If the cat is not hungry, don’t ask it to speak. It won’t. They are independent little critters.
Those who think you can’t train cats aren’t trying hard enough! People sometimes think I’m exaggerating, but my cats both love and respect me. Kinda like my kids. I bet we could trade stories all night long. BTW, welcome to Free Republic. Did you lurk long? I think I lurked for about 5 years.
So true! Snuggles ONLY meowed when she heard the Friskies can open. I called it “say please” and now she does it loudly whenever she wants her Temptations.

I went to college in mid 70’s. It seemed like Volvo was the official car of liberal professors and half my classmates drove V-dubs. They were a dime a dozen, today even as parts cars they’re worth good $$$
By framing mask usage as smart, kind, moral, proof that you care ... it made anyone who disagreed mean, selfish and evil.
That’s why there are many videos of liberal bullies screaming at people in stores for not wearing a mask, even when it is a young child not wearing one.
Training people to equate compliance with kindness and morality means they hate and fear the non-compliant. Thus the liberal bullies who sprayed picnickers with mace, though they were clearly sitting down to eat.
