Wait. They named a ship after a tomato?

Beautiful class of warships, but to call it a “Super battleship” is not accurate.

But it was not called ‘a Super Battleship’. It was called ‘Italy’s Super Battleship’.

And it sounds like that for Italy, it was their ‘Super Battleship.’

“Atsa spicy meatball” was already taken.

So what happened to the 7 links and the photo that was with the article when you reposted it?

So we still have to go to the website to read and see everything.

I am surprised the bombs didn’t slide off.

Fun fact the German Fritz X bombs wreaked havoc with more than the Italians. One bomb essentially ended HMS Warspite’s fighting career.

They needed those Fritz Bombs at Normandy on June 6th 1944. Only one was used if I recall and it sank a Norwegian destroyer. Lost control of the air—lose the war.

Probably like their tanks-3 gears in reverse.

From what I’ve read, the Italian navy was pretty effective. The Brits considered them a worthy adversary. There was the battle of Taranto, but then again there was also Pearl Harbor.

They were nasty weapons. from wikipedia:

"The American light cruiser USS Savannah was hit by Fritz Xs at 10:00 AM on 11 September 1943 during the invasion of Salerno, and was forced to retire to the United States for eight months-worth of repairs. A single Fritz X passed through the roof of "C" turret and killed the turret crew and a damage control party when it exploded in the lower ammunition handling room. The blast tore a large hole in the ship's bottom, opened a seam in her side, and blew out all fires in her boiler rooms."

"The Royal Navy's light cruiser HMS Uganda was hit by a Fritz X off Salerno at 14:40 on 13 September. The Fritz X passed through seven decks and straight through her keel, exploding underwater just under the keel. The concussive shock of the Fritz X's underwater detonation close to Uganda's hull extinguished all her boiler fires, and resulted in sixteen men being killed, with Uganda taking on 1,300 tons of water."

The Italians built several quite good BBs prior to WW2. They fought valiantly in the Med.
The fact that the UK had their codes cracked, had a technological edge with radar, and outnumbered them meant that the Brits usually won.

I wish there was a block feature on FR.

That A H is absolutely the worst thing about FR.

He has driven away countless Freepers for no reason.

Thing is, how can just one person seem to early post so many threads? Especially if it’s just to troll.

That’s part of why I asked that question.

I’m guessing he wouldn’t like my WE THE PRESS essay...

Probably on the spectrum somewhere.
