I can see putting out flares to keep people at a distance but why can’t someone change their own tire.

I grew up in Mississippi and someone wearing a confederate flag shirt changing a tire for a black person wouldn't even raise an eyebrow until a few years ago. No black person would have thought anything about it, nor would a white person have thought anything about someone helping them while wearing a Martin Luther King or Malcolm X shirt.
It wasn't until a few years ago when race baiting really ramped up that people started getting offended by the confederate flag, for most of my life it didn't bother anyone white or black. It wasn't until the media started telling blacks that they should be offended that they thought anything about it.
