Mitt is bitter because he perceives himself refined and can't stand the fact that someone as "course" as Trump was elected President while he was rejected.
You can’t be blamed too much for that, especially when it comes to Romney. He was presented as a more conservative option by “trustworthy” voices on the Right during the 2008 primaries, so naturally he was going to be considered acceptable by most Republicans in 2012.
We live in a different world now. Many people on the right have learned their lesson and are finally alert to behind-the-scenes manipulations and con games from the establishment.
Never underestimate the greed of those that can be bought.

Romney kept saying this is the result of bad decisions by the previous administration and the current one, probably consciously trying to sound non-partisan or whatever. He criticized Trump for negotiating directly with the Taliban and freeing Taliban prisoners. He speculates that some of the freed prisoners were in the Taliban army.
Romney’s problem is there’s no way to trace this mess directly to Pres. Trump’s decisions, whether or not those were arguably good or bad decisions. Without Biden suddenly removing US air power without informing the Afghan army and giving them time to adjust, and without evacuating civilians first, this mess wouldn’t be happening. It was that bizarre decision ALONE that precipitated the mess.
Whether Trump should or should not have done this or that has no relevance to the catastrophe. Romney is posing in typical Never Trumper fashion as the “voice of reason”, while basically lying.
Romney hates President Donald J Trump because he’s a loser and President Donald J Trump is a WINNER.
