McCarthy is a snake in the grass
*************
Trump seems to be ignoring his own parable about the dangers of the snake.
I want Trump to endorse people with convictions, principles and a track record of following them.
I have zero respect for McCarthy.
I really was hoping he learned from his multiple disasterous appointments during his presidency, but he just doesn’t seem to have the ability. He must think he will be able to convince them to go along based on his unbelievable success, but doesn’t grasp that they do not care about the people and doing the right thing, they only care about themselves.
The best I can say is that we don’t have the luxury yet of having enough great MAGA candidates, so we have to do the best with what we have.
He thinks McCarthy will win anyway, so he’s getting in early. McCarthy is not MAGA, McCarthy is not what gets us out of this. He couldn’t even control Liz Cheney and Kitzinger flipping him the finger and getting on that commission.
You'd think.
And you'd be wrong.
He still thinks he's running a business, where the people he brings on or endorses will be loyal to him. (At least, that's the charitable possibility.)
He's wrong ... they're professional politicians; for them politics is only a means to increase their power and fatten their bank accounts.
Technically McCarthy was BOO’ed
Trump wasn’t boo’d and whoever wrote this is a complete moron.
That’s true they’ve actually more or less admitted it
9D chess? How about Endorsing true conservatives?!?
OTOH, maybe a Trump endorsement is the kiss of death in McCarthy’s district. It’s California, after all. Anyone know?
Trump surely knows his ability to effectively assess those he must trust is a weakness ... and his enemies, including this California snake-in-the-grass, damn well know it and exploit it.
Now that’s something I hadn’t thought of. LOL
People excited about the prospects of a GOP take over of congress had better temper their enthusiasm. The GOP has a long track record of disappointing its voters. Its the one thing they do consistently.
How did that work for him during his admin??
“McCarthy has stabbed him in the back . . .”
While president he endorsed John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, and Mitch McConnell after being backstabbed by them as well.
I am on board with both of you.
However, after engaging in an exercise with my local Republican Town Committee, I have come to realize how damned hard it is to know candidates.
We were trying to do an evaluation from the State Governor all the way down to the local dog catcher so we could make recommendations (and we are hard core conservatives trapped in a Leftist state) and it was damn near impossible.
Trump likely has the same problem on a larger scale, but...with McCarthy, that shouldn’t have been an issue for Trump. Don’t understand it, except that his trusted sources may not be trustworthy.
Point taken.
I think Trump was blindsided by just how corrupt DC has become, lets hope he has learned and is ready to raze the alphabet soup agencies which now actually make the laws.
“He has to stop endorsing Bush League Republicans.”
Don’t know about this particular decision by Trump but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
He needs to build a better team than he had the 1st time around. He certainly knows more about how things work, and more about the various politicians, than he knew in his earlier presidency.
Continuing to endorse the very people who hobbled his first term is not the way to a better second term.
The apostrophe in the headline is an Abomination!
