Yes, we certainly can or shortly in the future be able to do so. Once chips get placed in our bodies, which is coming very shortly, indeed.

Yes - we can.
No - We should not.
We will do it anyway. We will live and die with the consequences. The survivors will be quite different from us.

Wait till 6G is implemented around 2030 and smartphones evolve to being implanted in your head or body, etc. along with other skin chips, etc. Cyborg future is coming and I believe they are describing it as transhumanism. Serious law, policy, privacy, ethical, morality, etc, etc. issues galore will be had.

Greek mythology is full of wacky dreams and chimeras that didn’t pan out.
Too bad it’s probably censored in today’s pubic schools.

You can bet that the CCP is investigating this and will be conducting experiments if they have not already.

Mien Kampft was the best selling book in Europe for years. Doesn’t make it Gone With The Wind.

I think history and the degenerate status of our culture has amply proven the adage: Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.

That would make a nice tagline.
I'm betting on one of the following to do us in:
1) creating by accident a black hole in the Large Hadron Collider which will grow and swallow up the Earth.
2) releasing by accident (or on purpose) a really nasty bug from the lab that will kill instantly (see The Andromeda Strain).
3) total nuclear war where all the missiles are fired, just because we can.
