No worse than runoffs like Georgia. At least with ranked choice you don’t have to vote more than once.
Just get a majority of votes and it’s a mute point.
Ranked choice voting is unconstitutional. It violates equal protection. Only the voters who picked the last place candidate get to change their mind. None of the other voters have the opportunity to change their minds.
If this were a true runoff, all voters would have the opportunity to change their minds the second time around.

The person with the most votes should win. The majority bar is silly.

The stupid Alaskans allowed ranked-choice voting and mail-in ballots. I guess between rotting fish and their elections, they are not only rank—they reek!
No, it would be moot.
Still don’ understand this system,

At its simplest
Votes taken from one and given to another
Slick eh ?
The view is a personal one unsupported by trial. As I noted, why doesn’t Palin sue? For that matter why wasn’t she able to pull more than 50% of the vote? Who has more name recognition than she has.
Thank you. Don’t know why I wrote mute. Duh.
rank choice voting is one of the UniParty’s responses to MAGA.....
Re: 17 - Careful. That spoils the narrative that Sarah Palin was wildly popular in Alaska.
Peltola defeated Republicans Sarah Palin and Nick Begich and Libertarian Chris Bye in the Nov. 8 election. Results of the ranked choice election were announced Wednesday. Palin and Begich also were candidates in the special election.

With ranked choices tabulated on Wednesday, Murkowski got 53.7% of the vote. Kelly Tshibaka, the candidate Trump endorsed, got 46.3%. Murkowski’s total jumped up once Democrat Pat Chesbro was eliminated. Her supporters overwhelmingly backed Murkowski next.
I went digging. I can’t find where Palin pushed back against this type of voting until she lost the special election.
“The Alaska voters were sold a bill of goods with the ranked-choice system.”
I’m not usually one who falls for conspiracy theories, but I just gotta wonder if there are Soros fingerprints on the bank accounts of Alaska legislators who pitched this travesty. From his satanic perspective, it would have been the bargain of all bargains.
“The democrat would have won without it too”
Exactly. The reason Peltola won is because a number of Begich viewers preferred her to Palin.
Ranked-Choice Voting
Easy to rig it’s why the democrats want to push it for all states.
The equal protection argument is supported by Bush v. Gore.
-PJ
My point is until she lost, she was fine with it. I’m not sure Bush v Gore applies.
RCV allows the people who voted for the least popular candidate to change their minds, but the people who voted for the winners cannot change their minds in the second round. That violates their equal protection to change their minds, too.
